Jon and Aubrey met each other and became fast friends through high school theatre. Over the years that they participated in theatre they both grew closer and both bonded over their obsession with music, art and more specifically the band Nine Inch Nails. They quickly became inseparable best friends. After three and a half years of being best friends they both realized that they were in love with each other, which was a shock to no one except them.

On January 1, 2019 they made their relationship official, which again, was no surprise to anyone they told. Jon and Aubrey dated for nearly four years. In that time they have gotten to go on many adventures together and have been as inseparable as they were when they first became friends in 2016.

On December 22, 2022 Jon asked Aubrey to marry him at the downtown shopping center in their hometown of Las Cruces, NM. They plan on getting married in NM and continuing to live in Lubbock, TX until Aubrey gets into grad school.
