Visiting the Leelanau Peninsula? Whether you are planning a romantic getaway for two, a family vacation, or an alternative to your typical hotel or motel lodging; the Whaleback Inn in Leland, Michigan is for you. We are located in Michigan’s beautiful Leelanau Peninsula (north of Traverse City). The Inn is situated on a hill overlooking North Lake Leelanau for spectacular year round views of our 200 feet of across the road private frontage and beyond. The Whaleback Inn is so named because we sit at the base of the Whaleback Sand Dune. Among the five wooded acres are fourteen well appointed lake-view rooms, a free standing cottage and three cottage suites as well as two docks for your swimming and boating enjoyment. We also offer on-site kayak and stand up paddle board rentals from our own docks!

This casual hotel opposite the quaint Fishtown district and offering waterfall views is a 5-minute walk to the Manitou Island ferries and less than a 15 minutes’ drive to several Leelanau Peninsula wineries.

Most of the simple rooms offer Fishtown views along with free WiFi and cable TV (some with minifridges). Suites (sleeping up to 5 or 6 guests) add separate seating areas, basic kitchen amenities (microwaves, minifridges and coffeemakers) and Jacuzzis in some.

Breakfast is available during the peak summer season (mid-June through Labor Day).
