Our Story

The Story of Our Family (Authored by Styx)

Picture of The Story of Our Family (Authored by Styx)

It all started under a porch in Coprus Christi, TX... My sister and I were adopted by two strange men who took us to their home. Little did they know we would soon become rulers of their household.

April 19th, 2017 my dad and Uncle Max walked into the humane society looking for an older, single cat. Little did they know they'd be leaving with two kittens; my sister, Iggy, and me, Styx.

Fast forwarding a couple years, and several moves we came to reside in our cabin in the woods. Our time with our dad was short at first as we were left to fend for ourselves with a new roommate. In the ensuing months my sister and I made it our primary goal to establish dominance over this extremely tall bald man that we now call "Uncle Ric". We employed high echelon psychological warfare to bend this human to our will, and succeeded. Neither my sister or I would say it was easy, but he folded in just a couple of weeks.

Shortly after our dad returned from his six month long vacation, we were introduced to our now mother who we weren't quite sure of at first. We really tested this lady, 'cause she was stealing our dad's time away from us. After using her suitcase as a litter box and completely soaking her jacket we thought we'd seen the last of this lady, but she kept coming back... and she always had treats. She did play with us pretty rough, and there has not been a quite or calm moment since.

After spending a couple years at our cabin in the woods we were handed off to some lady in what I swear was a rental car parking lot and given drugs-- lots of drugs. In what felt like no time we woke in a new, much smaller home, that was definitely a lot cleaner. This was our moms house, and though my sister was unhappy at first, I really took a liking to it. I could come and go from the bed as I pleased without taking a paw to the face and we got A LOT of treats. We won't ever tell our mom, but I think that was when my sister finally started to like this lady even despite the treats. Fast forward 8 months and we were forcibly taken from our throne back to our Dad and our Uncle Ric. This move wasn't back to our cabin in the woods like we thought it would be, but instead, down to what my parents called "The Beach". There were lizards, LOTS of lizards. And frogs. As it would turn out, there's a lot less of them now given my superior killer instincts. We had what we had dreamed of: plenty of treats, an automatic feeder, filtered water and a circus of three servants (Mom, Dad and Ric), but it wasn't meant to last. My sister grew sick and left us, and the house didn't feel the same... Everyone was sad, especially me.

Well, we spent a few years down there and it was nice. Now my parents thought it would be a good to take me back to Texas, where they gripe about the temperature--I don't know what they're complaining about, but inside my kingdom its 74 degrees all the time. I have pretty much full reign over this territory and was even gifted a large white sofa that has incredibly comfy spots to sit, but my favorite place is the cat tree that sits by a tall window and overlooks the street where the lower class cats roam freely. Unfortunately for me, my parents did bring home what they would refer to as my "sister" and I lost full rein of our home. It took some time, but I am now very fond of Scout--her and I wrestle quite a bit which I missed doing with my sister Iggy. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have grown up under that porch in Corpus Christi, but I do feel pretty damn lucky. Also, Uncle Ric still visits, and when he does, I get triple treats for the day.

I hear my parents talking about this 'mawwage' thing a lot. I guess that means that I get Mom and Dad togther forever now, which means unlimited treats and hopefully a bit less moving around than before!

Welcome to our wedding! We're so excited to celebrate with you all.
