Audrey and Jay began volunteering for the World Championship BBQ Cook Off committee in 2010/2011, but it would be several years of wandering the big parking lot of the NRG in unpredictable, sometimes bi-polar, cold and hot weather (because this is Texas after all) until they would finally meet in 2019. It would be a few more years though until the timing was right and the two began dating.

Throughout the years the couple has spent their time together traveling (Disney World, Belize, and Cabo to list a few), throwing countless crawfish boils and BBQ's, continuing to volunteer for WCBBQ, and spending time with family, friends, and their dogs (Rex, Goose, and Gracie).

In October 2024 Audrey began putting together a group trip for a wine weekend in Fredericksburg. Little did Audrey know, while she stressed about who could come, searching countless options for an AirBnB, and researching wineries, Jay was working behind the scenes planning a big surprise proposal.

On December 14, 2024, in the cave at Slate Theory Winery, Jay made a toast to all who came which ended with him on one knee asking Audrey to spend forever with him. The two spent the rest of the day celebrating with their closest family and friends.
