Welcome to our wedding weekend in Coconut Grove! It means everything to us that you would travel to be with us during this special time. We chose this vibrant city in hopes that it’s a mini vacation for everyone in a beautiful spot. But also a chance to spend time together in a meaningful way that we wouldn’t have in a hometown wedding.
The wedding on Sunday will be held at the venue that initially brought us to Miami. The historic Ancient Spanish Monastery dates back to 1133 A.D. in Northern Spain. It took 8 years to complete the monastery after which Cistercian monks occupied it for nearly 700 years. In 1925, William Randolph Hearst purchased the Cloisters and the Monastery’s outbuilding and began dismantling the structure stone by stone. It was packed in more than 11,000 crates and shipped to the United States. In 1952, it took 2 years and the equivalent of $20 million to reassemble the monastery which now serves as the parish Church of Saint Bernard de Clairvaux where services are held on Sundays and weekdays. Make sure you spend some time in their museum and touring their amazing grounds with gardens, courtyards, 3 fountains and a labyrinth.
