Our Wedding

Audrey will deny this, but she was the first girl I met in college. Bid day 2014 right in front of Ridgecrest West, of course she didn't give me the time of day. She claims not to rememeber this, but believe me, it happened! We were always in the same circle of friends, but never really got to know each other until senior year. I have a habit of waiting to do important things until the very last minute, so naturally, we didn't start dating until about a month and half before graduation with no plans on where we were going to live after college. Shortly after graduation, Audrey went off to Zambia to provide healthcare to villagers (she literally went off to save the world), and I took a boat trip from Tuscaloosa to Point Clear. That is the first time I can remember thinking, "wow, I need to marry this girl." Most people go on vacation or take time off after college, and she went to take care of those less fortunate. Audrey has always been one to put others first. The second time I thought "wow I need to marry this girl", was when she came to visit me in Point Clear for the first time. At this point, we had only been together for about 2 months. I decided that we needed to take the boat to Pirates Cove in Josephine, which is about an hour and half ride under perfect conditions. The way there was perfect, Mobile Bay looked like a lake, completely flat and calm. The way back though, not so much. I have been around boats my entire life, and a little chop has never bothered me, this though, was like nothing I had seen in the Bay. It was so rough I don't think we were able to go over 10 miles per hour. That's not even the worst of it though. We get back to my house, and my entire family (about 25 people were sitting on the wharf) and Audrey had met none of them. Keep in mind, we had been in the boat at Pirates Cove for hours, so not exactly the easiest way to meet your boyfriend's extended family. Watching Audrey interact with my parents, aunts and uncles, and whoever else was out there was something - you would've thought she'd known them for years. She fit right in! Fast forward five and half years, and she even convinces me to go to LSU games! I have never met someone who makes others (especially me) so happy. I'm glad we are able share our love with our closest family and friends. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with the prettiest girl in the world.

Lyon's Story

You know that saying, “Everything happens for a reason?” Well, cheesy as it may sound, I have always firmly believed in it. The story of Lyon and I is a perfect example of why. Going way back to college, we were in the same big group of friends. My girlfriends would always ask the guys to our sorority date parties. We had a “Tacky Christmas” themed date party, which is funny to look back on now, knowing how much Lyon hates dressing up, and we were asking the guys. I decided, hey, I’ve never taken Lyon to a party, so I think it’d be fun to ask him. We always knew each other, but he was quiet, so I didn’t know him super well. I took him to the party, and we had such a blast. Turns out Lyon got much more talkative with a few liquor drinks in tow. A few weeks later, Lyon’s fraternity had their “formal” weekend down in New Orleans. He asked me to go at 10 PM the night before – again, a very Lyon-like trait that I would soon learn. I was surprised to open his message and had an early morning nursing class. I am very type A, and planning is pretty much guaranteed in my daily life. It’s pretty comical that I am now marrying someone who is the exact opposite, but I think that’s probably what makes us so great for one another. Anyway, my roommate at the time, the maid of honor in our wedding, convinced me that I needed to go to this formal with him. She packed my bags while I was in class and met me at the bus immediately after with them to send me off. The whole weekend ended up being such a blast. Being from Louisiana, I felt right at home back in the boot. I was so proud to give Lyon the grand tour of all of my favorite spots in New Orleans - and no, of course I did not forget to make him try a purple drink from Lafitte's. After that weekend, the rest was history, although he didn’t physically ask me to be his girlfriend until March (two whole months later!). I’ve obviously been very patient with this one – dating for five and a half years serving as another example, but who was counting?! Anyway, I knew I loved this boy, and any wait would be worth it. A few months later, Lyon graduated college, and I had one more semester of nursing school. I had just returned to the US from a mission trip to Zambia, Africa, and Lyon invited me to come to Point Clear to visit him. I immediately fell in love with Point Clear and with him even more. We were never on boats much growing up, but Lyon was the opposite. The first day we were there, we went out on the boat, and I remember being so incredibly nervous. I was holding on to the railings for dear life. When we got back to land, I was absolutely covered in bruises, and I remember laughing with him about my parents never letting me come back to visit once I returned home all beat up. Regardless, I remember looking at him that day and thinking, “I’m going to marry this boy.” Turns out I was right! But hey, I’m never wrong, so… Honestly, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be marrying such an amazing, caring, and loving guy. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I truly am so blessed. I am so excited to celebrate our marriage with all of the people we love most at my favorite place in the world, and I cannot wait to be married to my favorite person in the world!!
