August and Jack had their first date at Frontenac State Park in April of 2020—a notoriously uneventful time in world history. Despite their diligent efforts to remain the recommended 6-feet apart on that hike, fate seemed determined to bring them together.

Their paths grew closer when August moved to the Twin Cities for grad school in the fall of 2021. Though he technically lived with his sister and her husband, he started spending more and more time with Jack and his new puppy, River. August and Jack moved in together in the fall of 2022 at the gentle prodding of cousin Denise: "You're there all the time anyway—make it official!"

From spending time on the sandbars in Wabasha to combing for shells along the beaches of Florida, August and Jack have enjoyed many adventures together. Their most recent adventure brought them to Oregon in the summer of 2023.

August proposed to Jack in April of 2024 at Little Zigzag Falls on Mount Hood. They are excited to celebrate their marriage among family and friends in Duluth, Minnesota—a city that holds a special place in their hearts.

River is thrilled.
