Several weeks prior to Rachel and Austin meeting, Rachel's neighbor randomly texted her saying she thought she knew someone that would be good for her. This guy happened to be her coworker, Austin. Rachel agreed to let her give Austin her number, partially thinking nothing would ever happen. The coworker also told Austin that she had someone she wanted him to meet.

On November 14th, 2016, Austin and Rachel met on a blind date. Neither knew one another nor had ever laid eye's on each other (or so they thought!). Austin asked Rachel to meet him at Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits. He thought it would be a great place since they offered coffee or drinks. Little did he know, Rachel does not drink coffee.

Rachel was so nervous when she pulled up to Dichotomy that it's surprising she actually got out of the car. Austin and Rachel sat and talked (and drank tea) for over 2 hours that night. They found out they had been attending the same church in Waco for a couple of years. In fact, Austin had been playing in the worship band. They still are not sure how they never noticed each other because their paths had to have crossed at church. They also found out on that first date that the person who set them up barely knew both of them. Rachel had only talked to her a couple of times, and Austin had only been working with her for a couple of weeks. Austin didn't let Rachel leave without asking for a second date that night.

On January 9th, 2017, the day after Rachel got back to Waco after Christmas break, they made their relationship official. Their lives continued to grow together. They took a trip to Chicago in July 2017 where they spent time exploring the city and then to Elgin, Illinois, the city where Rachel grew up.

On October 20th, 2017, almost a year after their first date, Austin was attempting to pull off the perfect proposal. Rachel got off work in Houston that Friday and immediately began the drive to Waco. She was hungry (but really, hangry) and suggested they meet at Jimmy John's before going to Baylor's Homecoming bonfire, which they had both been talking about for weeks. When they finally parked near Baylor's campus, Rachel asked if they should turn and cross the street. Austin said no and that it was faster to go a different way. Rachel thought to herself that there was no way it was faster on the route he was leading them. When they got closer, he continued to lead them in a specific direction and then grabbed Rachel's hand, leading her to an arched breezeway between two buildings. In this breezeway, Austin had a book filled with some of their memories on a music stand. Being nervous, Austin read the notes within the book rather quickly. At the end of the book, Austin got down on one knee and asked Rachel to marry him. Of course, Rachel said, "Yes!".

Austin and Rachel are thankful they each took a chance on their first and only blind date. They are also thankful for the neighbor and coworker they barely knew. Their story is proof everything happens in God's perfect timing.
