Kylie's Version:

We met while working at Orangetheory Fitness, but our story didn’t really begin until years later when I asked Austin out for a drink. Our first date? Banger’s Sausage House in Austin—nothing says romance like sausages and beer.

Of course, the timing was perfect. We started talking just five days before Austin moved to Charlotte, NC, for a new job. On his first night there, he booked me a flight to visit (bold, we know), and a long-distance relationship began. After a few visits, plenty of fun, and realizing FaceTime wasn’t cutting it, Austin decided eight months was enough and moved back to Austin (the city).

What started as Austin “temporarily” moving in quickly turned into living together (sorry mom) —and a golden retriever named Cairo, who is the actual star of this show. Since then, we’ve built a life together filled with love, laughter, and our golden retriever, Cairo, who keeps every day interesting.

Now, we’re so excited to start this next chapter surrounded by the people who mean the most to us!

Our Story - Austin’s Version

Well well well, you read Kylie’s version and felt like something was missing didn’t you? I’m here to tell you that your hunch was correct and I’m so happy you kept scrolling down to read our real story!

So there we were, 7 days before I moved half way across the country. Work acquaintances at Orangetheory who just so happened to spark up a conversation between a crusty old manager and a newly promoted manager, I’ll let you guess who is who. Of course in those 7 days I put all my charm to work on winning Kylie over including jokingly inviting her to visit me in North Carolina.

Fast forward a week and some change, a beer or 2 and boom, a round trip ticket to Charlotte was booked and the first long distance trip of many was scheduled. Over the next half a year, I visited Austin and Kylie came to explore a new city with me along with endless hours of FaceTimes. After a night of breweries, bowling, and Kylie singing Kid Rock’s “Picture” flawlessly, I knew I had to make it official. That’s exactly what we did sitting in the parking garage of my apartment complex, but that was only step one.

This was easily the best decision of what became the best years of my life. Since then, we’ve experienced some pretty incredible things, like helicopter tours of Hawaii, deep-sea fishing for marlin, golfing in Cabo, and gambling in casinos from Las Vegas to Mississippi, with plenty of South Texas road trips in between. My personal favorite story is when we paid $600 (mosquitos came free) to sleep in a treehouse in the middle of the Mexican jungle. During this time, we’ve merged our families, grown our careers, and even expanded our family to include the greatest gift of all—our dog, Cairo.

Now I’m purposely leaving out all the details like me serving Kylie egg yolk raw carbonara or Pakistani shawarma (that she didn’t eat), her hitting a median on the highway in my truck, or even some of the haircuts I’ve let her give me over the years.

I can tell you for a fact that I found my true love during those 7 days and every day I’ve grown to love Kylie more and more. I credit so much growth in my life personally and spiritually to Kylie and the blessings God has given our family including allowing her to become a Dupont.
