Austin and Megan attended Ithaca School together, but didn't interact much until they had high school band together. Austin had a silly emoji on his keychains that he would send to Megan everyday for their Snapchat "streak." Megan's favorite memory was when she and a friend drove to Austin's house to deliver ice cream. When it was time to leave, the new drivers didn't know how to back up well in the dark around potholes. Austin was such a patient gentleman and directed them how to back up, from which way to turn the wheel. As the girls were leaving Megan knew at that time she wanted to marry him. To this day he still helps her back up, but is teaching her how to back up her horse trailer.

On the night of Monday January 8th there was a beautiful snow fall that was the first of the season. Megan was on a work stretch and was sleeping in. She woke up and got ready for the day on January 9th, and when she walked outside to the magnificent snow fall she found her soon-to-be fiancé, Austin right off the porch. He met her and they walked down the hill and started down the drive way. Those who know Austin, know he does not get worked up or nervous over anything, He is Megan's rock who can calm her down in any situation. As they started down the driveway, he started to tear up and couldn't get out the sentence he wanted to. As they got over to the side against a gorgeous backdrop of bushes with freshly fallen snow Austin got down on one knee. As soon as he did, there was a gust of wind that blew snow down at the perfect moment. It was a moment that was the ultimate proposal that both of them will remember for the rest of their lives.
