We often say our story is a reminder that God’s timing is always perfect. He moves powerfully! When we finally surrendered our plans and let Him take the lead, He wrote something far better than we ever could have imagined.
For Austin, life looked very different before we met. She was rebuilding; starting over. It was a season of learning to lean on God’s promises, trust His Word, and believe that He was still writing a good story. She was teaching middle school in South Georgia, faithfully attending church, and praying nightly for a Godly man who would love her like Christ loves the church.
Meanwhile, Carter was living nine hours away, living the dream of professional baseball. On the surface, life looked exciting, but underneath, he was also seeking God’s direction, wondering what was next and praying for clarity about both his future and his heart.
Then, in a way only God could orchestrate, our paths crossed. After swearing off dating apps, Austin felt a nudge to try Facebook Dating. We instantly matched. We both thought, there’s no way this will actually work! The distance alone seemed impossible, but we decided to give it a try anyway.
A few FaceTime calls and countless text messages later, we realized there was something special here. We couldn’t ignore the connection, even if we weren’t sure how the distance would ever make sense.
Then came the moment that changed everything. One Friday night during a game, Carter took a line drive up the middle and tore a ligament in his leg. For months, he’d been praying for a sign, asking God if it was time to keep pushing in baseball or step away in faith. That injury became the answer. It brought him home to Middle Georgia to recover…and as God would have it, now only two hours away from Austin.
Not long after, we met in person for the first time. What we thought might just be one date turned into something undeniable. Within three days, we were already working through a devotional together, digging into scripture, asking the hard questions, and building a foundation on faith from the very beginning.
From that point on, it was clear: this wasn’t just a coincidence. God had been aligning our steps long before we ever met.
Today, we’re so grateful for how He took two people who had completely surrendered their plans and wove our stories together in His perfect timing. Our prayer is that our marriage always reflects the same faithfulness and grace that brought us together.
