This is the closest airport to our house and the wedding location. It’s only 30 minutes drive from here. Sometimes you can find cheaper flights if you land at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) but that’s 2 hours away.

Alcune volte però si possono trovare voli più economici atterrando all’aeroporto internazionale di San Francisco (SFO) che dista 2 ore da qua in macchina, qualcosa da tenere in considerazione.
Da San Francisco a qua c’è il treno per circa 30$ oppure dovrebbe esserci qualche bus (flixbus…)

Dove è meglio alloggiare?
Solitamente le soluzioni più economiche sono i motel, no non sono spaventosi come nei film. Sono stata più e più volte in catene come motel 6 o super 8. In alternativa si potrebbe provare a cercare un appartamento su airbnb e dividere i costi.

Dove posso cambiare la valuta dei soldi?
L’opzione migliore è cambiarli in aeroporto in quanto le banche qui non offrono questo servizio. In alternativa si può andare e cercare un posto dove cambiano i soldi da qualche parte.
Che tipo di prese ci sono?
In America le prese sono diverse dall’Italia, consiglio di comprare un adattatore per partenza, facilmente trovavi le su Amazon.
E per quanto riguarda il telefono?
Per avere un piano telefonico, minuti, sms e internet è necessario acquistare una scheda SIM americana. Per chi ha iPhone si trova facilmente su Amazon e questo è il metodo che consiglio. Per chi ha altri telefoni potrebbe funzionare comunque ma bisogna controllare la compatibilità . Se avete xiomi ad oggi non sono riuscita a trovare una sim funzionante.
E l’assicurazione medica?
La sanità in America è privata ed è necessario avere un assicurazione medica se non si vogliono avere spese esorbitanti. A tutti i turisti è estremamente consigliato di provvedervi di assicurazione sanitaria.
Come spostarsi una volta arrivati?
Scordatevi i mezzi pubblici, qui sono pressoché inesistenti. Il metodo più efficace è sicuramente la macchina. È possibile noleggiare una macchina su Turo, un applicazione che ti permette di noleggiare da privati. L’ho utilizzata ancora, la macchina viene ritirata e restituita direttamente al parcheggio dell’aereoporto. Se no l’aeroporto ha a disposizione molte altre compagnie di noleggio auto. In alternativa si possono usare i servizi di taxi Uber o Lyft ma a volte risultano parecchio costosi.
Guidare negli Stati Uniti?
Per guidare è richiesta la patente internazionale. Per averla bisogna fare richiesta in motorizzazione. Costa circa 40€.
Che documenti servono?
Per venire in America serve il passaporto e il visto turistico della durata di 3 mesi. Questo si chiama Esta, si fa online sul sito ufficiale e costa circa 21$. Il sito è https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/esta (sito ufficiale del governo americano).
