If you ask Austin: We met probably on the worst day that I was having to date. My brother, sister-in-law, and my niece were leaving Germany. I had told myself that unless it was for work, I was never coming back to Ramstein or Kaiserslautern ever again. For some reason though, I decided to check my Tinder app again, and lo and behold, here was Miss Addy sitting in my "people who liked me" pool. After looking through her pictures for a minute and reading that she needs someone to keep up with her "spontaneity," I swiped right and messaged her. After a few days of actually texting, we decided to move off of Tinder and I asked her for her snapchat so that we could text for real. After a couple days of texting and FaceTiming each other, I finally asked her out to lunch since I decided that I was going to play disc golf up there one final time. I knew she was Army from her Tinder, but what I didn't know was her rank. When we met for lunch, she told me she was coming from work, and I sat in that Five Guys on base with her lunch waiting for her, but I won't lie, I was fully prepared to bail out because of how nervous I was. Then I saw her walking up to the restaurant, and I knew that there was no backing out now. At that moment in time I also found out that she was about 2 pay grades below me, so there was that. However, I was instantly hooked on her. I was nervous to the point to where I was stumbling over my words at every point in whatever we were talking about that afternoon. After we ate, we went inside to get coffee and set up our second date since we already knew that we wanted to see each other. After talking and discussing that we were both fine with the rank difference, she had already figured out I was an NCO, we decided that we wanted to move forward with seeing each other. The next day, we met up in Mannheim, where I had immediately gotten lost trying to look for her car while I was trying to park at this mall we decided to go. Once I finally found her, it took a minute to work up some courage and I made the first move on her (she might say differently, but this is the truth). After a long back and forth of "what do you want for lunch?" and "I don't know, whatever you want." and some more "I'm fine with wherever" we ate and then she decided that she was comfortable enough with me that we would go back to her place and hang out until I absolutely needed to go back for work the next day. Fast forward a couple weeks, we were planning trips to Disney in Paris and trips to Europa-Park and Rulantica. It was the morning of Rulantica that we decided that we were official and that we wanted to see where this relationship went (we already know where it ended up since you're here on our wedding website).
If you ask Addy: XXXX
Our proposal didn't have an actual date on it. We both knew that we wanted to be with each other for the rest of our lives after a few months of dating. Some might say that it isn't a lot of time to know if this person is your person, but that isn't true for everyone. Sometimes the Lord withholds our people until we stop looking, and we believe that is what happened in our case. We wanted to get some professional photos done before Addy officially left Germany so that we had some photos of each other that we could hold on to and cherish forever, not to say that we don't cherish the little off guards and selfies we have, but everyone wants to get nice photos done in their relationship.
This is when Austin decided that he wanted to do the proposal. I had no idea that our regular old shoot was about to turn into the best day of our lives. We bring out the goofy side of each other every day of our lives, whether it was when we could see each other in person or while it was on FaceTime while we were separated. After driving up and down several trails and dirt roads in Kaiserslautern, we finally found our photographer, Allie, and got lost trying to get up to this spot. We found this old cathedral in downtown K-Town and knew that we were going to enjoy this as it matched our aesthetics (dark and spooky). After a few minutes, thats when I was told to stand in front of him, and she said "peekaboo" and I turned around to see my best friend on one knee with the ring I fell in love with. Of course she said yes, or else we wouldn't be here right now, but this day will forever will live with us as one of the best days in our lives as a couple.
