Our Wedding

Austin and I work weekend package at Monroe County Hospital in Albia, Iowa. I started in August of 2018 and he came from Centerville June of 2020. I got sick the week he started and came in to do my Xray and coincidentally, I was Austin's first Xray at the hospital. I thought to myself "He must be the new tech. He looks so young!" The Friday he started working on weekends, I closed our common waiting area doors when the clinic was done and briefly introduced myself as the lab person he's gonna work with and that was about it. For being so shy and not knowing how to small talk, I close my doors immediately when clinic closes and only go to the ER when there is a patient or if they need me. Construction happened and there was a time that our lab back door and our waiting area door are closed so the only way in and out the lab is through radiology department. Austin lived there on the weekends being on call, so when I get called back especially, I would even take off my squeaky shoes and tiptoe the entire hallway to get to the lab so I wouldn't wake him up. It was not until January or February the following year where one afternoon around 3, he was in his break room and saw me pass by so small talks of "Hey how are you?" - ""Good" became about a book he was reading. We were talking just standing in the hallway and it went on and on from books to TV shows to religion to diet tips and conspiracy theories. At some point I started to try to end the conversation thinking "I might be bothering him" or "He might be tired and wanted to sleep" but he didn't stop talking. From 3pm we were talking just standing in the hallway until he clocked out at 7pm. That was the start of our long conversations to forever.

We started going out for ice creams after work. Then on July 31, we went to the Monroe County Fair to get Schroeder's (Smoked Pulled Pork sandwich) together. Austin bought a house recently as well so he invited me over and he made brownies. August 21, he gave me his white blanket cause I'm always cold in the lab. He is the sweetest, most kind and effortful man. We cherish each other very much!

We have courtesy room blocks at The Arlington Hotel for our guests. The spots are limited and must reserve by April 16, 2025 (Wednesday). For guests that would wish to stay here, the Hotel requests you to call 501-609-2533 and ask for the MAMBA/RITENOUR WEDDING RECEPTION/BLOCK. Guests should indicate the full names of guests who are staying, arrival dates, departure dates, pairing for shared common rooms, type of guarantee for their rooms, method of payment and room type requests.

There are a couple other options for hotels in Hot Springs, AR as well. It offers a lot of options on airbnb as well for big groups that would wish to stay in one house altogether. The city is located in the Ouachita Mountains at the heart of the Hot Springs National Park so we are excited to have our family and friends gather into this beautfiul location and enjoy the gardens and nature on our special day!

Travel

Normally, to visit the gardens, there is a 20$ entrance fee for adults but the Gardens is FREE for the guests on the entire day of the wedding. So on Sunday, May 18th, you can visit the gardens in the morning or right before or after the ceremony. They open at 10am. Just inform the entrance that you are one of our guests and you are able come walk around and check out the gardens. The Garvan Gardens is a 210 acre woodland habitat botanical garden and there is a 1.4 mile loop hike in the gardens so make sure to plan your visit to be able to see the beautiful flowers they have in season.
