Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Austin and I attended youth group together at our church. We knew of each other but hadn't gotten the chance to get to know one another. Dating was never a thought that went through either of our heads but the Lord had his plan set, so a year after we graduated high school He mixed our friend groups together and got to work. A few months into our friendship I got a nail in my tire. Knowing Austin was a mechanic I contacted him for some help. I brought him Mission BBQ which he gladly accepted. After patching up my tire we went on our separate ways, but the Lord wasn't done there. Three days later the SAME tire was leaking. At this point, I was convinced Austin had done something wrong. I contacted him once again to check out my tire and he, just as surprised by this leak as me, agreed to take a look. This time I brought him cookies and in return, he removed the tiniest piece of a mental wire from my tire. We laughed about the situation and from then on our friendship started to grow. A few weeks later while we were carving pumpkins Austin decided to reimburse me for Mission BBQ and the cookies, so he left $25 behind. Naturally, I refused to accept the money back and raced over to The Weaver's house to drop the money back off to its rightful owner. The money went back and forth for a while in the most creative ways. The game ended with me winning when I dropped off the money with a note. The only problem was Austin wasn't the first to find it this time, so instead of him reading the note to himself his mom read it to everyone at the dinner table. Even after that horrifyingly embarrassing moment, no moves were made to move forward in our relationship. A few weeks later at the Christmas Eve service at church, the Lord and my uncle, Jorge Velez, decided it was time to move things forward. Jorge walked up to Austin and asked him to have a little talk. I watched from afar, fearing what was being discussed, only to find out later that night that Jorge did the one thing I thought he'd never do. He told Austin that I was interested in him and that he should ask me to be his girlfriend. One thing led to another and here we are, thankful for how the Lord used a little piece of wire to bring us together. We are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together and to get to spend our big day surrounded by people we love.
