Are the ceremony and reception at different locations?
Yes! Our wedding ceremony will be held at McKelvey Vineyards with a reception following at the Elk’s Lodge in Washington, MO. Wi-Fi can spotty at the vineyards, so looking up directions from McKelvey Vineyards to the Elk’s prior to the event may be a good idea!
Is there a time gap between the wedding ceremony and the reception.
Yes, there is a few hour time gap to ensure the wedding party has plenty of time for photographs and travel. Feel free to enjoy yourself at the vineyards and take in the scenery. There will be a cash wine bar. If the winery isn’t your scene, feel free to explore downtown Washington where you will see the beautiful riverfront, some cute shops, and restaurants. Keep in mind travel time to the reception is about 20-25 minutes from the vineyards, and 5-10 minutes from downtown Washington.
What is the dress code?
Dress code is semi-formal. It is suggested women wear long or short dresses or jumpsuits. It is suggested men wear a button down shirt with khakis or dress pants. No tie needed!
What time do I need to arrive at the reception?
The Elk’s Lodge in Washington, MO opens to guests at 4:00pm with an open bar. Reception begins at 5:00pm. Please arrive to the hall by 4:30pm to ensure there is plenty of time to find your seat and grab a drink!
Are there hotel rooms available?
Yes! We have rooms blocked at the Best Western for availability. The Best Western is about 10 minutes drive time from the reception and about 25 minutes from McKelvey Vineyards. The room blockage will end April 30. However if you need to still book a room after that date, there still may be rooms available to the public.
