Our Wedding

Autumn and McNeil first met in August of 2021 at the beginning of their sophomore year at Samford. They had both returned early to campus for Resident Assistant training. It just so happened that they ended up in the same campus area, in buildings just 100 feet apart! Their work schedules were arranged so that they worked the same shift in the RA office on Monday nights the entire semester. After just one conversation, Autumn felt that McNeil would turn out to be an extraordinary person in her life. McNeil quickly and discreetly ascertained that Autumn was single; from there, they spent many evenings listening to quality music and getting to know each other in the office when they should’ve been focusing on homework.&nbsp; Fast forward two years, and Autumn and McNeil still immensely enjoy each other’s company. Their favorite free-time activities are playing music, running on the lakeshore trail together, and reading. They also enjoy studying in the library and walking around the quad as a break. When they get the chance, they love to spend time with their families in Tuscaloosa, AL, or Austin, TX. Many family weekends have passed by with lots of laughter, proving that Autumn can indeed survive squirrel hunting with McNeil’s brothers and McNeil excels at hiking in Colorado with Autumn’s family. They are thankful that Samford brought them together.&nbsp; On November 11, 2023, Autumn and McNeil celebrated two years of their relationship. McNeil took Autumn to dinner, then brought her to a cliff overlooking the city of Birmingham. It was there that he asked her to marry him, and she joyfully accepted.&nbsp; Today, McNeil and Autumn eagerly anticipate May 11, 2024. They are thankful that the Lord has blessed them with each other, and they look forward to laboring together in His kingdom as husband and wife for the rest of their earthly lives.&nbsp;

If you feel led to pray for us and our marriage, here are a few requests that we hope will honor the Lord as we step into a new season as husband and wife: Prayers that we would serve each other with "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance" (Gal. 5:22-23), and that our love for each other would be selfless, embodying 1 Corinth. 13:4-8. Prayers that we would prioritize a "quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty" (1 Tim. 2:2-3) and that we would learn to be content in whatever circumstances we encounter (Phil. 4: 11-12). Prayers that we would prioritize time in God's word and in prayer on a daily basis individually, and in our Church weekly, "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another" (Heb. 10:25). Prayers for a smooth transition from college to working full time, and that the Lord would direct our steps with plans for where to live and jobs (Prov. 16:9). Prayers for our church and how we can labor for Christ's sake in our community. "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit, serving the Lord" (Rom. 12:11). Prayers for our pre-marital counseling and preparation for marriage, and that we would seek the counsel of Godly men and women in our lives (Ps. 1:1). Prayers of protection over all those traveling to be at our wedding, and for a stress- free planning season leading up to May 11th (Phil. 4:6).

The closest major airport to our venue is about an hour away in Birmingham, AL. We recommend flying to Birmingham and renting a car. There are hundreds of Air B&amp;B's in Birmingham, so for those making a long trip, we hope you are able to take a day to explore the rich history of the city! When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP to our wedding by April 6th, 2024!

What will the reception be like?

Our reception will take place in the fellowship hall at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church directly after our ceremony. We will provide appetizers and finger foods before serving cake and other desserts. We hope that this will be an opportunity to visit with other guests before the send-off at 7 PM!

What should I wear?

The attire for our wedding is Semi-Formal. Sundresses, button down shirts, slacks, or suits are all appropriate.

Can I bring my children?

Yes! We love you and your whole family, and we would love to celebrate our day with your children. We will not provide childcare at the wedding, but there will be a playground outside and child-friendly appetizers. We only ask that you please RSVP the number of people from your family coming so that we can ensure everyone is fed.

When should I get there?

We recommend arriving at the church in around 3:30 pm. We will promptly begin the ceremony at 4 pm.

Will the wedding and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding and reception will be indoors, but we will also have a few tables and outdoor games set up outside!
