Our Story

A Love Story #ASone

This love story has been a true testament of "see what the Lord has done" for Avern and Sharmori.


In April 2019, Sharmori reached out to Avern as recommended by a mutual friend to assist him with navigating a rough patch in life.


Four years later, who knew the rest would be history!


What began as a solid foundation as friends has now blossomed into a purpose-driven love story in which they have committed to putting God first at the centre as they journey as two becoming one.

The first-time Avern & Sharmori met in person was at Avern's Graduate Ceremony from Clark Atlanta University.

Their first time venturing out together... or you can call it an unofficial date was accompanied by happy hour sushi and a couple of intense rounds of UNO! We all know Avern won, of course!

The second stop of their night out was at Cafe Intermezzo, where, for some reason, they were awe-struck when their first ever NO CASH sign greeted them...thankfully they had cards :)! #Welcometothedigitalage

And to end off the night, they journeyed to Ponce City Market as they channelled their endless summer vibes with rooftop city views, games and finger food.

After that night at Ponce, they didn't see each other again in person until September 2022. However, they kept in touch and cheered each other on through WhatsApp and occasional phone calls and celebrated each others wins like their own! Just like in the photo. But here are also a few words Sharmori imparted to Avern on her 26th Birthday: "Happy Birthday to a phenomenal woman. To a Queen. To someone who strives every day to be the best version of herself and to be the person that God destined her to be. You are awesome. You are spectacular and never let anyone tell you anything less. Happy 26th Avern! Hope you’re having a wonderful birthday ❤️✨🙏🏾 Those words are from within. If it wasn’t for you or if it wasn’t for God sending you I don’t know I would be today❤️"

After that night at Ponce, they didn't see each other again in person until September 2022. On the one-year adoption celebration of Avern's baby girl (dog) "Tuesday", Sharmori asked Avern to be his purpose partner. She instantly said yes and saw this moment as divine timing of release because her prayer was that Tuesday would be her comfort until God saw it fit to reveal her purpose partner. Sharmori's words to Avern were: " ...Avern I don’t want you only as my friend but as my partner also. I am ready to move into this. Ain’t no reason to hold back when I have a woman who supports me and loves me for who I am wholeheartedly."
6 months 20 days following a purposeful connection, Sharmori popped the question in the same spot he took Avern's photo back on their unofficial date, July 23, 2021. 6 months 20 days following a purposeful connection, Sharmori popped the question in the same spot he took Avern's photo back on their unofficial date, July 23, 2021. It was no coincidence but undoubtedly orchestrated by God because they only ended up there due to issues with other locations. In fact, it was only as they began to leave that Avern remembered that this was the last stop on their unofficial date. And this Fall #ASone, in a private and intimate setting, Avern + Sharmori will say I do!
