Our Wedding

Our story begins on November 9th, 2019, at a Whataburger during our freshman year at Oklahoma State University. The restaurant was alive with the sound of students grabbing late-night bites after an evening of fun with friends. Jack was sitting with his group, and I (Avery) was just a few booths away with mine. After a quick glance and a moment of curiosity, Jack decided to make his move—shouting across the booth to introduce himself. Yes, our very first introduction seemed loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear, but it’s a moment we still laugh about to this day. While Jack’s charm was undeniable, I wasn’t looking for a relationship at the time. Despite his best efforts, our lives went in different directions, and we eventually lost touch. However, God had other plans. Fast forward to sophomore year, during another fun weekend with friends, we unexpectedly bumped into each other once again. After a year of no communication, we both took that as a sign to pursue a deeper relationship with one another. On November 3rd, 2020, we officially started dating. Three years later, on December 31st, 2024, Jack proposed in a way I could never have imagined—completely unforgettable and incredibly special. We were at a friend’s ranch in Paducah, Texas (shoutout to Griffin), celebrating New Year’s Eve. Jack told me he wanted to take me to a great hunting spot, just the two of us. We drove to a field with a stack of hay bales, and sat at the top of them. Given the situation and location, I had no idea what was about to happen. About 20 minutes later, friends started pulling up to the spot we were at. As they arrived, Jack stood up, and when I followed, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Fireworks lit up the sky, champagne was popped, and we celebrated the New Year—and the beginning of our forever—for the rest of the night. Looking back, it’s clear that everything happened as it was meant to. What started as a chance meeting over a honey butter chicken biscuit and fries turned into a love story we’ll never forget.
