Luke and I have known each other since elementary school, but it wasn’t until our sophomore year of high school that we truly became friends. He was in my first-period chemistry class, and I couldn’t help but think he was so cute. As our friend groups naturally began to blend, we found ourselves spending more and more weekends together.
When homecoming season arrived, Luke needed a date. In his typical, laid-back way, he casually asked if I already had someone to go with. I was thrilled because I knew how shy he was, and I couldn’t wait to see him break out of his shell. Not long after, we started dating.
Throughout the rest of high school, we made so many memories—family vacations, prom, COVID days, basketball games—each experience teaching us more about each other and deepening our connection. By senior year, we faced the big decision of choosing where to go for college. Luke wanted to play football at a school where he could earn the best scholarship, while I was searching for a smaller campus. After visiting multiple schools, God led us both to Indiana Wesleyan University.
Since starting college, we’ve grown in ways we never anticipated, drawing closer to God and developing as strong, independent Christians. The Lord has been incredibly gracious as we’ve navigated our relationship, always striving to keep Christ at the center.
Then, on July 5th, 2024, Luke surprised me with the proposal of a lifetime at our favorite place—Torch Lake, Michigan. It’s a moment I’ll treasure forever, one I can’t wait to share with our children someday. I’m still in awe of the Lord's faithfulness in bringing us to this point. While we don’t know every step the future will hold, we have full confidence that with God, anything is possible.
Our story is one of my favorites to tell, and we’re overjoyed to celebrate our love on May 30th, 2025.
