Avery and Tommy met in May of 2021 at George's Bar in Virginia Highlands one of their favorite neighborhoods in Atlanta. Their mutual friend Claire Hamner (one of Avery's Bridesmaids) suggested Avery and her go on a walk and grab a drink at George's after, where Claire had a guy Avery had to meet because he just got into the FBI! Little did Avery know this was Tommy. Although he did not end up going to the FBI, the nickname stuck and soon all of Avery's girlfriends knew she had a crush on "FBI Guy".

Soon after their first meeting, Tommy asked Avery on their first date to a doubles tennis match at Piedmont Park. Instantly, they hit it off over their love for tennis, passion for their sports teams, desire to travel, and their priority of fiends.

Auburn vs. Ole Miss football games soon became one of their favorite fall weekends of the year, and a great rivalry. St. Patrick's Day weekend is also one of their favorite weekends with Chicago being by far one of the best and coldest. Of course Tommy's love for the New York Yankee's and Stans was a yearly tradition that began with him showing Avery and her sister, Anna (Avery's Maid of Honor) why Stans is better than Billy's.

Over the years Tommy and Avery have enjoyed getting to know each others friends and families, traveling the world together, and having countless BMDC's and Espresso Martinis.

On May 22, 2024 Tommy had a tennis lesson scheduled for him and Avery at Piedmont Park where their first date was. Little did Avery know that the photographer who asked for a picture for a school project was all Tommy's master plan to ask her to marry him. Here they became teammates for life! They celebrated their engagement in Italy on the Amalfi Coast, one of their favorite trips to date.
