People always talk about love at first sight—but that wasn’t our beginning. The first time we spoke, I didn’t even see her. I was distracted, dealing with something else entirely. I couldn’t tell you what she wore or how she looked that day—but she saw me. She noticed me. And that one glance somehow turned into forever. When I finally saw her, I had to do a double take. She was stunning—almost unreal. I was nervous, unsure how to even start a conversation. So I did what any unsure person might do: I liked every picture on her profile and hoped she’d notice. She did. From our very first conversation, I was drawn in. I asked her if she believed in God—curious about her heart, her background, the way she saw the world. She was quiet, shy in person, often pretending not to see me. So I made the first move, and from the start, I kept showing up. The beautiful thing is—she always met me halfway. Over time, something deeper grew. I remember when we said “I love you” for the first time. Neither of us wanted to say it first—but when she did, I knew I felt the same. Still, the moment I truly realized I was in love happened quietly, in a crowded place. A song played over the noise, and everything else seemed to fade. I looked at her and sang along, and even though she laughed and told me to stop—I knew she felt it too. That was the moment my heart settled. We’ve had our ups and downs, laughter and growing pains. But through everything, we’ve always chosen each other. And now, we get to keep choosing each other—forever.﻿

Jamie Side of how we met

Our love story began in the halls of high school, a tale of sweet curiosity. It was 11th grade for me, and he was a senior who caught my eye at a basketball game. There was something about him that sparked an undeniable interest within me. I was bold, not shy at all! In fact, it was Jamie who held back, which is why I took the first step. I noticed him liking all my pictures on Facebook, and each notification made my heart flutter. It felt intentional—there was a sweetness in that bold gesture that encouraged me to reach out. So, like any curious girl with interest in someone would do, I messaged him first. As our conversation blossomed, so did my feelings for him. The very first question he asked was not the typical “What’s your favorite color?” No, it was something far more profound: “Do you believe in God?” Without a moment’s hesitation, I replied, “Yes.”&nbsp; That question transformed my perception of him. In that instant, I realized that if this man had a relationship with God, he was exactly who I wanted by my side. Not just someone with whom I could share laughter and conversation, but a partner who understood the cornerstone of my life: faith. From that fateful day—December 4th, 2016—I longed to spend every moment with him. And I mean every moment. He quickly became not only the love of my life but also my teacher in ways I never expected. Through his patience, love, and quiet strength, he has shown me so much about myself. He has helped me grow into a more self-aware, emotionally intelligent, and grounded person. He didn’t just love me; he taught me how to love myself better. To me, that is the purest form of love. He has witnessed my weakest moments and has always remained steadfast, piecing together the fragments of my heart to create a beautiful new picture. While we may not be criminals, I see him as my best friend, my confidant, and my co-defender in this wild journey of life. This is a life sentence—forever my ride or die.
