Matthew & Avin met at the NOAIDS Task Force while they were both volunteering with their respective colleges, Matthew at Tulane School oF Medicine and Avin as president of UNO's pre-law organization, Phi Alpha Delta.

They didn't really talk much during the volunteering, but afterwards, all of their classmates left. Avin set off to leave but suddenly decided that she should stay and check out the neighborhood music scene. Unsure where to go, she stood in the street in front of the Maison and stared at their big calendar. That's when Matthew made his move. He came up behind Avin , said "hi" and invited her into the. Maison to listen to music with him. Avin happily accepted. That was Dec 17th, 2012 and they've been together ever since!

Matthew invited Avin on their first real date the very next day, at the Canal Street Theaters
