It was the year 2021, and love was in the air…along with COVID-19. Ayeesha was living in Atlanta, and Ezra was living in Seattle. During that time, COVID-19 didn’t exist in the South (😉), so Atlanta was operating like business as usual. Meanwhile, back in Seattle where COVID-19 did exist, Ezra was under a pandemic lockdown and confined to his 900 sq ft apartment. With that, he started flying to Atlanta and working remotely from there, so he could be close by family. At the time, Ezra had friends who frequented a restaurant in the Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta. Little did he know joining them for a night of “catch up” drinks would change his life forever.&nbsp; Ezra has always said, when he first saw Ayeesha it was a wow moment, and when they actually talked and discovered they both had so much in common through strong family ties, deep faith, a zest for traveling, and ultimately legacy building —the two were inseparable. Ezra eventually moved from Seattle to Atlanta permanently. He had a big family trip scheduled to go to Ghana in December 2021. However, on the day of the trip after several attempts to get a Covid test to travel, he was unsuccessful as all of Ezra’s tests came back as inconclusive and had to cancel the trip 3 hours before departure (note, Mrs. Maddox still to this day doesn’t believe it, and sticks by her story we were in cahoots). As you could imagine, Ezra was extremely disappointed as his entire family was going to Ghana to spend Christmas in the motherland and he was back in Atlanta. After Ayeesha learned of the news, she immediately stepped up and said, “I don’t really celebrate Christmas as a Muslim, however, we will make the best out of it together, I got you”…and that’s just what we did. And the rest is history. Since then, it has been travels and adventures, live sporting events (go DAWGS…go Falcons!), eating our way through Atlanta, concerts and comedy shows, family events, watching our favorite shows at home as Ayeesha makes popcorn, and so many more memories and lots and lots of love. Through the ups and downs, we have always been by each other’s side and have demonstrated the commitment to each other to be the very best versions of ourselves to create a happily ever after.&nbsp; On July 28th, 2024, at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort, Ezra proposed to Ayeesha on the beach. And she said, YES! The best birthday gift he could’ve received, considering his birthday is on July 30th.&nbsp; We can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of you in August! We are SO excited to share a weekend with our closet family and friends celebrating the union of our two families. #MaddoxMeantToBe
