Like all great love stories, ours began… at a bar.

It was April 2023, and we both happened to be in Lincoln for the Huskers’ Spring game weekend. That Friday evening, we both ended up at JJ Hooligans — a classy establishment (kidding… kind of), when fate (and a mutual friend named Chase) decided to play matchmaker. Jake worked up the courage to get Azia’s number that night and, against all odds, she actually answered his text.

Our first date was at Anna’s Place, a speakeasy in Omaha. Drinks were great, conversation was easy, and we quickly realized we were in trouble — the good kind. It just felt easy, fun, and like we’d known each other forever.

From there, our relationship was a whirlwind of good times. We spent countless sunny days at the lake, logged plenty of golf dates, and filled our weekends with dinners, drinks, and nonstop laughter with our friends and family. Whether it was a quick road trip, a lazy Sunday, or scoping out local dive bars, we loved doing life together — and still do.

Fast forward to October 2024. Jake planned a birthday dinner for Azia at Happy Hollow Club, just the two of them. On the way in, he casually suggested stopping by the pro shop — which Azia, being mildly hangry, was less than thrilled about. She also thought it was weird he parked in a different zip code if he was just trying to shop. Azia walked ahead, ready to get it over with, while Jake lagged behind. That’s when she turned around, saw him down on one knee, and realized this wasn’t about golf gear. (Good save, Jake.) She said yes, of course.

Since then, we’ve been living our best lives together. We can’t wait to celebrate our wedding day with all of you and officially make it forever.
