Azure: "What's our love story?"

Derico: "Love story!?"

Azure: "YES, love story!"

Derico: "That's easy! I walked into the room, she passed out, and I thought, 'Well, this must be it.'" Azure gives a side-eye, and they both start laughing.

As you can see, there is a lot of laughter and fun in the love story of Azure and Derico. Derico and Azure first met in 2014 at a graduation.

Fast forward to July 2016, they crossed paths again at a wedding. Derico's best friend, David, was marrying Azure's cousin, Epiphany. Derico thought Azure was "mean," and as the Best Man, he told David, "I'm glad I don’t ever have to see your Maid of Honor, new cousin Azure, again." If you know Azure, you know that when it comes to events, she is all in! Her role as planner and coordinator often came off as stuck-up and "all about business" as Derico says. But this is where their journey begins.

In 2017, Azure spent New Year's Eve with David and Epiphany. They were both wearing matching pajamas, and David sent a picture to Derico. The question was asked, "Who took the picture?" David responded, "Oh! Piff's cousin, Azure." Derico replied, "Who knows? Maybe next year, me and her can be in matching pajamas too!" So much for someone who said he never wanted to see her again, huh? Epiphany took that remark and ran with it, excitedly proclaiming, "I've been trying to get them together for YEARS!" She demanded that Derico call Azure. A few days later, he decided to make the call.

What started as a four-hour conversation, filled with friendly wagers between the Cowboys and Giants throughout the years, turned into something incredibly special that neither of them expected. Thank God for David, Epiphany, and their love for football.

On September 6, 2024, Derico got down on one knee and asked Azure to marry him! They are both thrilled and can’t wait for the moment they get to say, "I do," surrounded by their loving family and friends. They are eager to start the next chapter of their love story.
