Garrett and I met in college at the beginning of our junior year. We had several mutual friends, but we never really knew each other. The first time we hung out, we spent 3 or 4 hours sitting in the Sonic parking lot eating ice cream and talking. There were many, many Sonic dates after that one!

After we graduated, I moved back to South Carolina to begin a teaching job in Greenville. A few months later, Garrett moved to Greenville to begin another year of schooling for a specialized field. It was evident to me then that God was orchestrating something greater than we knew. I mean, he was attending a school that people from all over the country attended, and it was 15 minutes from where I worked. How could that not be a God thing?

When Garrett moved to Missouri, we began our long distance relationship journey. Planning how and when we were going to see each other was a challenge, but we made it work. In early October, he came down to South Carolina to celebrate my birthday. I had no idea the surprise he was cooking up for me.

The afternoon that he proposed, we went downtown Greenville to Falls Park to walk around before our fancy dinner he had planned for my birthday. When he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, I was speechless - literally. It was the most perfect moment, and I could not have imagined it any other way!

We are so excited about this journey and we are so excited to start our lives together!
