OUR STORY
We both grew up in Brandon, MS, but our paths somehow never crossed until we moved to Starkville to attend Mississippi State University. We joined Greek life there and developed mutual friends that eventually convinced us to go to Kappa Sig semi-formal together. (Thank you Carlee Leber) We danced, drank, and laughed all night and have been by each other's sides ever since.
While at Mississippi State, we both had difficult and time-consuming majors, but we confided in each other and supported each other all the way to graduation. We took our degrees and decided to move back to our hometown to join the workforce. Since being back in Brandon, we've created the sweetest life together. We bought our first house and have worked hard at renovating it into our dream home. (A lot of DIY YouTube tutorials later) We adopted our first dog, Harlow, and she quickly made us develop a passion for helping animals in need. So of course, we adopted our second dog, Roscoe. We've traveled all over, made new friends, kept up with old friends, and have grown closer to our families than ever before. As sweet as life is right now, we can't wait to start the next chapter together as husband and wife.
From then to now!
OUR ENGAGEMENT
We started the day like any other day - Cici's Pizza buffet for lunch then a three hour nap. After waking up, I got dressed to go to my grandma's house to celebrate my aunt's birthday. Usually, Ty would come with me to any family function, but Mamaw said no boys allowed this time, and what Mamaw says goes. I got to her house and visited with my family for a bit, and then my mom called and asked me to bring tin foil to her house for a Christmas party they were hosting. (I should've known then)
Me, my sister, and my cousin headed over to my parent's house to make our tin foil delivery. Once we got there, I walked up to the courtyard gate and peeked over to make sure there weren't any frogs or lizards on the other side by the latch. That's when I noticed Ty with rose pedals and candles laid out around him. He said the sweetest words and talked about our life together, and then he got down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and gave me my dream engagement ring.
It has a radiant cut center diamond with trapezoid diamonds on both sides and baguettes on the band. But what makes it so special is that the center diamond came from my grandmother's engagement ring that we recently lost to pancreatic cancer. My sweet Papaw offered the diamond to Ty, and I'm so thankful he took him up on that offer. She fought her best fight to make it to our wedding, and even though she won't physically be there, it means the world to have a piece of her there.
