When Bailey and David met, Bailey was on her way out of Atlanta. She was moving across the country to Portland at the end of the Summer. David was knee deep in building and growing his burgeoning compost company. They ran into each other a couple of times at a brewery in town. Bailey was socializing her new puppy, Roux, though she likes to say she was the one being socialized. She had just purchased a little red Nissan Frontier pick up that she planned to build a bed into so she could live out of her truck as she made her way across the country. Intrigued by the idea, David offered to help her build out the truck bed. So over the course of a week the two of them worked out of Davids garage building what would become Baileys home on wheels.
It was a fitting way to start their relationship, foreshadowing the many other projects they would create and complete together. They stayed in close contact as Bailey made her move out to the West Coast, rendezvousing in Steam Boat Springs Colorado for some R&R in the hot springs. David was head over heels for Bailey at this point, deeply drawn to her individuality and strong sense of self. Bailey was more realistic and kept Davids hopeless romantic enthusiasm in check. After all, he was dating an older woman, far wiser than himself.
In December of that year David flew out to Portland and the two of them loaded up her truck and hit the road for a two week long road trip down the coast of California, camping and surfing, and then making the trek back to Atlanta together. As they say…the rest is history.
