Our Wedding

Our story began in a hilariously unforgettable way. I was 17, she was 16, and we first met on the bus ride to rehearsal for our high school production of Beauty and the Beast. I was cast as a fork. Bailey? A plate. Naturally, dressed as silverware and dinnerware, we couldn’t help but notice each other. During that time, we became what I considered best friends. We spent nearly every day together in a group with our close friends, Grace and Patrick. The four of us became inseparable. But over time, Bailey and I started spending time together just the two of us. It started with her inviting me for walks at Memorial Park, then movie nights at her house… and it just felt easy. There was never any pressure to be more than what we were—just best, best friends. But as we spent more time together, it became obvious to everyone (and eventually to us) that we were basically dating without calling it that. Like most guys my age, I was hesitant to “settle down,” and I wasn’t looking to be in a relationship—but I couldn’t deny how much I liked Bailey. Eventually, it just became clear that what we had was more than friendship. We officially started dating on October 9th, 2020… with a brief 24-hour break on the 10th, because I had a totally irrational fear of being bossed around by a woman. But by the 11th, I came to my senses.Fast forward several months, my choir director at Second Baptist, Ms. Martin, asked me how things were going with Bailey. Without skipping a beat, I told her, “I’m going to marry that girl.” I was 18. And I meant it. From that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. Bailey is truly my best friend in the whole world. Over the past five years, we’ve spent every moment we possibly could together. Even during hard seasons—like our first year of long distance while she was at Baylor and I was still finishing high school—we never once talked about “what if this doesn’t work out.” We just assumed we’d make it through. And we did. That year turned into four full years of long distance, with her at Baylor and me at Texas A&amp;M. It wasn’t always easy, but it never felt uncertain. We constantly dreamed about life after graduation, because in our hearts, that was always the plan. What makes our relationship so special is that we've never doubted we were meant to be. From the start, we believed God brought us together for a purpose to love each other well and to further His kingdom, together. We’ve been through the highest highs and the lowest lows. We’ve laughed until we cried, cried until we laughed, questioned God’s plan, and then embraced it, but always side by side. And through all of it, our love has never depended on our circumstances. From my days in community college to transferring to Texas A&amp;M… from her leading Alpha Phi recruitment to moving cities and navigating chaotic schedules… everything around us changed, but we never did. We always knew we’d meet back in the middle and build a life together. And now, we are.
