Bats, capital, live music and longhorns! Austin is filled with plenty of outdoor activities and has a prevalent nightlight. Take a stroll down Congress street and youll find yourself immersed in all that Texas has to offer. Below are just a few of our favorite spots and things to see!

Things to See:

Bats! and plenty of them! - Check out Congress Avenue Bridge at dusk and you will see thousands of Mexican Free-Tail bats hover right above you! Check here for a list of best times to visit.

The Texas Capitol - interested in Texas history? Head to the state capitol and join one of the many free tours to see where all our great laws are passed!

Barton Springs / Zilker Park - looking to get out of the heat? Take a dip in the barton springs pool (*tickets can be purchased onsite) and walk through Zilker park where our largest music festival (ACL) is held.

Lady Bird Lake (LBJ) or Town Lake if your a local like myself ;) - Austin just completed the 10 mile greenbelt loop and its incredible. Bring plenty of water but know its worth every drop of sweat!

South Congress Street - feeling like your on your second bacherlotte party? Or just looking for some new boots? Walk up and down south congress street and get your shopping on.

Restaurants:

Matts El Rancho - Margs! what else do you need! A great Tex-Mex joint that will not disappoint!

Loro - little upscale but delicious bites on the other side of the lake and right next to Gibson Street Bar if you need a cocktail while your on the waiting list.

Terry Blacks - an all time staple BBQ joint. Might not be the oldest in town and is almost becoming a chain but I will hands down say there Brisket is worth the wait in line!

Local watering holes:

The Broken Spoke - tired of one stepping, well check out the oldest Honky-Tonk in Austin and get your 2 stepping on. Also checkout Sagebrush if in the area for another great honky-tonk!

6th Street - 6th street is spread into three sections, West 6th, 6th street downtown aka Dirty 6, and East 6th (across the highway).

West 6th has plenty of sports bars and clubs. The Rustic Tap has a great backyard, while Marfa Lights will take you out of this world.

Dirty 6th is in the middle of downtown and is where you will easily step into a bar and find live music. Dead Rabbit is a NY pub with great food, while Midnight Cowboy is a great speakeasy that use to be a brothel! Head further south and checkout the Zanzibar (rooftop bar) for a beautiful view of the city.

Moontower / Armadillo Den - this is what South Austin is all about, and its space. These large beer gardens have live music and are great spot to chill and get away from the crowds.

Things to do:

Paddle Boarding - rent a paddle board by the lake!
