The Beginning of Forever...

Back in 2020, Dalton and Bailey’s mom, Fina, had worked together at sister businesses in Ida Grove for many years. During this time, businesses had just shut down from COVID-19, so Dalton had to go without getting his hair cut. His hair was getting pretty long so he had to complain to Fina that he desperately needed his hair cut.

Well, coincidentally Fina knew a licensed hairstylist who had just moved back home, her daughter Bailey. She gave Dalton Bailey’s phone number and told him to get ahold of Bailey. Finally, after Dalton waited a few days, he texted Bailey and they set a time for her to cut his hair.

The day came and Dalton stopped over for Bailey to cut his hair. They nervously chatted, not knowing that they were both planning on asking each other out on a date after the haircut was over. So, the haircut was done, Dalton thanked Bailey and left. Sadly, they were both too nervous and they didn’t ask each other out. But not too long after, Dalton texted Bailey and asked if he could take her out on a date.

So, Dalton finally asked Bailey out on a date! There was one issue though. During this time, it was April, and Dalton is a farmer. So, what does that mean? That meant Bailey had to wait for a rainy day in order to get her date with Dalton. Exactly 3 weeks later, after Bailey’s countless number of rain dances, it finally rained. Dalton texted Bailey and they had made plans to go on a date the very next day.

May 2, 2020, Dalton and Bailey had their first date. Dalton had picked Bailey up ready to go but came across an issue that every restaurant has closed early. This didn’t stop them though; they spent their date driving around talking. A 6-hour drive to be exact.

It was getting late, and Dalton was surely about to run out of gas. Dalton headed towards Dan and Fina’s house to drop Bailey off when they stopped at a stop sign and noticed a shooting star. Bailey excitedly made a wish; that this would be her last first date, and her and Dalton would spend forever together.

Now everyone knows the saying, “if you tell someone your wish it won’t come true”. So, over the years Bailey had kept that wish to herself, for it to come true on December 25th, 2024, when Dalton asked Bailey to spend forever, together.

And to think it all started with a haircut.
