Gavin was sent on a runner to the store by his folks to grab tape for his sister’s school project. Gavin knew the drill: go in, get the goods, pay, and leave. But what was supposed to be a routine trip to the store quickly became something remarkable when he realized, upon getting ready to check out, who was manning the cash register at the store.

It was none other than Bear, leaving Gavin shook.

Sure, they had just matched each other on Facebook dating and had been talking for a few days, but neither of them had made any sort of plans to meet in person, at least not anytime soon. Bear was standing at the front of the store as the sole cashier, and Gavin, seriously considering shoplifting so he could avoid an awkward conversation, was darting around the aisles, trying to plan what he would do next. Thankfully, Gavin relented, went up to the counter, and after making some awkward small talk with Bear (who, unbeknownst to Gavin at the time, thought he WAS trying to steal something) paid for his items and hurried home.

The next day, Gavin sent Bear a message, apologizing for being a weirdo at Family Dollar and asking if they could meet each other properly. Bear eagerly accepted, and they had their first date at Dairy Queen on November 8th, 2019. After a few weeks of getting to know one another (and doing things together like watching Rick and Morty at the public library, going on a gratuitous amount of trips to get treats, and getting pulled over for having a bad break light) Gavin was getting ready to drive to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving on November 26th. Seeing that he was at the time driving a PT Cruiser, knew that his chances of survival on the road could be slim. Not wanting to die alone (or simply be alone any longer), Gavin asked Bear if he would be his boyfriend. Needless to say, Bear enthusiastically said yes.

It's been many years since November of 2019, and throughout the years, Gavin and Bear have learned, loved, and grown together in ways neither of them thought were possible. After being engaged for nearly 2 years, Gavin and Bear are excited to finally tie the knot!
