What will the weather be like this time of year?
Hot and humid. The average high temperature in Harrisonburg, in July, is 84°.
What should I wear? Is there a dress code?
Smart Casual. Guests are being asked to dress neatly, without being overly dressy – or overly casual. For men, dark denim, chinos or suit pants with a neat shirt is appropriate while women may wear a skirt or smart trousers. Please keep in mind that our reception will be outside, in the afternoon, in the middle of summer.
Will there be a place to cool down?
Yes. We have an air conditioned space with limited seating next to the patio.
Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?
The Wedding Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The reception will be held on the The Ernst Tree Terrace and inside the Frances Plecker Education Center at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum.
Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?
The wedding mass will be indoors and the reception will be outdoors with an indoor space available to cool down.
What happens after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, please join us on the steps in front of the red doors of the original church as we enter the world as Mr. & Mrs.! Afterwards, the wedding party will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests can head straight to the reception where snacks and beverages will be served until we arrive. A buffet and cupcakes will follow.
What should I do if I can’t make it?
You will be missed! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend that you arrive a half-hour before the start of the ceremony, to make sure everyone is on time and we can start the ceremony as scheduled.
Where should guests park? Is parking free?
For the mass there is free parking in the city parking garage located next to the church at 100-198 East Elizabeth Street, Harrisonburg, Virginia. For the reception, there is free parking in Lot R5 at 664 University Boulevard, Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Can I bring a date?
We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.
When is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to mail back my RSVP or can I do it online?
Please reply by June 15th. You may click on RSVP at the top of this page.
Are the ceremony and reception location wheelchair accessible?
Yes.
Will food and drinks be served at the reception? What kind of food?
We will be serving finger food, followed by a buffet. Cupcakes will be served. We will not have a bar, but tea and water will be provided.
Will there be any vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/special diet options?
Yes. Please let us know if you have special food requests when you RSVP.
May I take a centerpiece home as a souvenir?
Yes.
May I take photos and post them to social media?
We request that you do not take photos during mass. But encourage you to take as many photos and/or videos as you would like before and after the mass and at the reception.
We would love to get the photos & videos that you’ll be taking (and want you to get them too)!
We're using The Guest app so we don’t have to bug you afterwards. Just take photos and videos as you normally would with your regular iPhone or Android cameras and they’ll be automatically shared! All you need is to have The Guest app on your phone.
