Becca and Kyre’s story began in a way neither of them could have predicted—as seventh graders attending a Youth 2000 retreat. Becca, homeschooled at the time, crossed paths with Kyre, who was a student at St. Catherine’s. Their worlds collided for the first time, though they barely knew each other back then.

Their connection truly began when Becca, while hanging out at a childhood friend's house, sent Kyre her very first text. It was the start of what would eventually be a feeling that spanned over a decade. Through basketball tournaments—both played for St. Catherine’s—Becca would often run into Kyre and would even see him perform in a few school plays. Though she was there for her basketball teammates, Kyre unknowingly stood out to her. In fact, Becca has a journal entry from 2012 that captures a snapshot of her teenage heart, where she confesses to having a crush on a boy named Kyre.

Fast forward to their sophomore year of high school when they dated briefly. It was during this time that Kyre mustered up the courage to kiss Becca at Tower Park’s soccer field, a moment neither would forget.

Though their paths diverged in college—Kyre went to the University of Louisville, and Becca to Northern Kentucky University—their connection remained strong. Both joined Greek life, and this mutual experience rekindled their late-night Snapchat and texting conversations. They exchanged music, talked for hours, and made time for each other despite the distance, often meeting halfway in Carrollton, KY. The quiet town became their personal escape, where they spent hours exploring and enjoying each other’s company. One Christmas, Becca gave Kyre a bracelet engraved with the coordinates of their Carrollton meeting spot, a symbol of their growing bond. When they weren't meeting halfway, Kyre often came into town and surprised Becca by showing up at her house or a party she was attending!

As time passed, Kyre moved back home to finish school, and their relationship only deepened. They dated for 7 years; through undergrad, their first jobs and Becca finishing her Master's at Xavier. When Becca was in her last semester of school, Kyre began shopping for a ring.

On September 20th, a hot day after work, the pair went for a walk through Tower Park, the very park where Kyre had first kissed Becca years ago. In the middle of their stroll, Kyre got down on one knee and asked the question Becca had been waiting (rather impatiently) to hear. Overwhelmed with emotion, she forgot to say "yes" right away—but of course, her answer was a joyful "yes!"

Now, they are looking forward to the next chapter of their lives, filled with love, laughter, and a shared history that brought them back to each other time and time again.
