Our Wedding

It all began with a tan line.Specifically, Becca’s very striking running watch tan line, which caught Gerrit’s attention on social media. Naturally, he commented (how could he not?). A few days later, Gerrit posted about winning a work rewards trip, and Becca—never one to miss a good opportunity—asked if he was bringing a guest… though she politely clarified that she probably didn't qualify since they had just met and were only acquaintances (Spoiler: she absolutely did qualify the next year.)Fast forward a bit, and after some back-and-forth messaging, Becca asked Gerrit to help fix her bike. Gerrit still swears this was a clever flirt; Becca maintains it was a purely innocent ask for help. The bike didn't get fixed for months—but it did lead to a first date at a dive bar and an old-school bowling alley (Bonus points if you can guess who won at bowling). The rest is… well, here we are.Since then, life together has meant joining a small group at church, long runs, long bikes, long swims (Yes, we did a triathlon and Becca did survive the swim), long car rides jamming to Gavin DeGraw, walks to Balistreries for a medium pepperoni special (no olives, please) followed by ice cream at Gilles, playing (slightly competitive) games of Scrabble and Yahtzee, reading our books side by side and plenty of time spent at our favorite places—like the black loop at Lapham, trips to Baraboo (ask Becca about her first trip to Baraboo) and cozy weekends at the A-frame cabin in Saxeville.And speaking of the A-frame—that’s where Gerrit proposed.The drive to Saxeville was uneventful... except for Gerrit's “fancy” cabin outfit, which raised some suspicions (He never buys new clothes). Once there, Becca was determined to garden. Gerrit, trying to keep her hands clean for reasons he could not disclose, subtly tried to dissuade her. It didn’t work. She gardened. He worried and stacked piles of wood. Later, they took the boat out to “cool off,” and Becca thought this might be the moment. But Gerrit played it cool. No ring. Then came dinner at their favorite dive bar (The Ding - if you haven't been, do yourself a favor and go) — still no ring (but they did win $99.00 on pull tabs). Becca started to think maybe it wasn't happening at all. Back at the cabin, though, Becca went to the bathroom and while she was gone, Gerrit snuck outside to set up a speaker and press play on a secret proposal playlist of their favorite songs. Unbeknownst to him, Becca had already found the playlist, so when she walked outside, she knew exactly what was happening. Then Gerrit handed her a beer — THE beer. The very beer she had started drinking months ago, and jokingly declared she’d finish the day he proposed. (Yes, he kept the OG can hidden in his fridge the whole time.) And that’s when Gerrit got down on one knee. She said yes— with dirty hands, a 3 month old half-drunk beer, and maybe a few tears.Now, we're getting married (!!!) and we're so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all the people who have supported us, ran with us, loved us and laughed with us along the way.

The Girls 

This DREAM TEAM of women is made up of family, friends and one very sweet flower girl — each of them holds a special place in my heart. Whether we met in diapers, high school hallways, the nurses station or at a restaurant in Green Bay, these women have shown up with love, loyalty, and laughter. I feel SO blessed to have each of them by my side as I say "I do."

My sister, but most importantly, my forever best friend.  We've been roommates (even pushed our beds together so that we could cuddle), we've been teammates (high school cross country) and we've even finished a marathon together holding hands (cue the tears). Rachel has been by my side through it all. She is always the calm in every storm, the voice of reason when things feel overwhelming, and the person I can count on no matter what. As my Maid of Honor, she’s basically in charge of making sure I don’t totally lose my mind—and if anyone can handle that, it’s her. I thank God every day for a sister like her, and I couldn’t imagine this day—or my life—without her.

Rachel Gosselin

My cousin, but she's always felt more like a best friend. We grew up playing Barbies and pretending to be lions (don’t ask), and now we’re standing up in each other’s weddings,  and playing competitive cribbage over a cold beer.  She’s smart, steady, strong and while she is terrible at texting (sorry Katie, it's true), whenever we’re together, it’s like no time has passed. We've bonded over terrible days at work (cue healthcare), constructing relish trays (today's charcuterie boards), and sharing a Tin Widow pizza from Fixture. She's the kind of cousin everyone wishes they had, and I’m so lucky she’s mine.

My cousin with whom I also had the privilege of growing up next to and playing barbies and lions with (yes, this was apparently a theme).  We went to the same college for a bit, though we basically never saw each other (classic). I visited her once in Iowa… and I remember absolutely nothing from that trip (sorry, Jess). But when I visited her in Virginia? The Best. Hot tub hangs, movie marathons and falling asleep mid movie marathon on the couch—Jess is funny, warm, and always makes you feel loved.

Gerrit’s sister — and soon, she’ll be my sister too!!! While we’re still getting to know each other, I already admire so much about her. She’s quiet and observant, fiercely loyal to and protective of the people she loves (especially her brothers), and has a smile that makes you want to smile too. She’s also the person you want around when something needs fixing — seriously, she can do it all. I’m so excited to grow closer as family and to have her by my side on this special day.

Katherine Bruni

Jade and I go way back — like, grade-school rivals at competing Lutheran schools back. We became friends in high school, but somehow grew even closer once I went to college four hours away. Since then, we’ve shared everything from late nights out (bars), endless conversations (boys), and the most beautiful chapters (brides and babies). She’s one of the most loyal, honest, and supportive people I know, and I couldn’t imagine this day without her (and her precious daughter, Sophie) by my side.

Jade Schrader

I met Lexy during our first chaotic, sleep-deprived nursing jobs at St. Luke’s on the neuro step-down unit — and somehow just knew we’d be lifelong friends. I followed her to the Children’s PICU, and we quickly became the infamous duo known for turning every one-person job into a two-person job (because everything’s better with your best friend). Since then, we’ve lived together, adopted cats, traveled, cried post 12 hr shift, and ran a marathon. Having her stand next to me is just another chapter in our wild, chaotic, beautiful friendship — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Sophie may be small, but she’s a big part of our hearts. She’s the daughter of one of my best friends, but to us, she’s family — proudly calling us Auntie Becca and Uncle Gerrit. She has a secret handshake with Gerrit (shhh!), a deep love for ice cream with sprinkles, playing at the park, storytime, and any excuse to wear a fancy tutu (not a skirt). Sophie brings so much joy and sparkle wherever she goes, and we’re so excited she’s helping lead the way down the aisle!

The Guys 

This Wedding is of course about me and Becca, BUT this section, this section is all about you guys. A personal hype sections for some of the best dudes in my life and guys that I am honored to be friends with. So yea, if you feel like I'm love blasting these guys, you're right, I am.

For those who do not know, Yosi is my younger brother and he's also my best friend. I'm lucky he also chose Milwaukee as his home back in 2013. I've done it all with this guy - sports in the backyard, Mexico trips, making up insane scenarios or would you rathers, and also roommates for a few years during and after college. Nobody else I would've rather been the back up PG to in High School and am honored to have him standing next to me today. Thanks for being the best brother a guy could ask for. Luvvv

Joe Bruni

Sometimes I accidentally refer to Jesse as my brother, but by definition we are cousins. Growing up in Baraboo together, playing sports, cruising in the blue Buick, getting $5 Cousins Subs over lunch were some core memories growing up (don't forget watching him score a hat trick against Waunakee!). I've also had the privilege of living with Jesse for a year in college, traveling across the country as adults, and watching him become an awesome father in the more recent years. Super honored to have him as a Best Man today. Luvvv

When you meet your girlfriend's brother for the first time, all you can hope for is that they are OK. I can confirm, Ben is OK. In fact, he is so OK that we actually became friends and I found myself saying things to Becca like "dang, I wish Ben just lived in Wisconsin." Excited to become brothers, and please move back to WI.

Reed is the kind of friend that I feel like I've known my entire life, but we didn't meet until freshman year of college. I've never laughed so hard that I cried as many times as I have with this dude. I'm truly blessed to have you in my life, and through the good times and the hard times you've always been a friend I could count on. So glad God brought you and your family back to Wisconsin!

Shout out to our Moms being coworkers and for introducing Luke and I! When Luke moved to Milwaukee for Dental school we started to hangout a lot... arguably too much because we must have ran out of things to do and signed up and trained for an Ironman together. Luke taught me how to hunt, convinced me to spend too much money on bikes, and has always been a friend who motivates me to be the best version of myself.

During Covid there wasn't a lot we were allowed to do, Peter and I bonded over running together. We battled back and forth over a random Cathedral Square Strava segment (I think he still has the KOM). PMO is also the go-to guy when you want to see a hot concert, bike in an attic, or go to the Fiserv to watch the #BucksInSix.

Robby is my sister Katie's fiance, and I am pumped for him to be my brother in law in 2027! Robby is well known around WI for his ability to eat a hot dog, drink a beer, and run 100m in record time. It's quite impressive to witness. Honored to have you here, Robby!

When the guests arrive at the wedding all they want is a friendly face to greet them. Hendy is the most friendly guy I know. He'd give you his shirt off his back, but it probably won't fit because he is 7 ft tall. Hendy is a legend when it comes to hitting corner 3's in intramurals (even while playing the entire game) and picking up my bad calls in Euchre.

For guests traveling by plane, the most convenient airport is Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, less than 15 minutes from downtown Milwaukee. We recommend renting a car for the easiest transportation, though Uber and Lyft are also available.

Come grab a beer and sit on the patio while watching the action on the Milwaukee River. Our go-to orders are the Hazy Rabbit (Becca) and the Riverwest Stein (Gerrit). Oh, and can't forget the cheese curds.

Our favorite breakfast spot! A great place to grab a bite to eat the morning after our wedding and if the weather is nice, ask to sit in their Ivy covered courtyard! Gerrit almost always orders the Mexican Scramble and Becca loves the Plaza Pleaser.

Is it really a trip to Milwaukee if you didn't visit the Milwaukee Public Market? A fun activity for all ages! The market includes a variety of independent vendors selling everything from spices to homemade paninis, cheese and wine!

A great post-wedding activity! Lion's Den offers beautiful lake views. Stroll across bridges over the gorge or down the gorge stairways to walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
