Our Story

How We Met

Picture of How We Met

Becca and Corey met in 2019 when Becca was one year away from graduating college with her degree in Music Therapy while Corey was working as an electrician in Harrisonburg VA. When they met, there was an undeniable connection. Their love of music and nature brought them together, though so much more connected them as they began to get to know each other.

Their first date is one that many would see as risky (sorry Mom) a sunset hike and dinner, though they actually missed the sunset due to having a lengthy conversation at a brewery they decided to go to first. Throughout the date, the two talked about their love of music, barbecue, and so much more. They enjoyed their time together so much that the date ended lasting over 5 hours. From that day on, they knew they had to keep seeing each other.

The Distance

While Becca was finishing college, they dated (semi) long-distance, driving to see each other every week. After graduation, the distance became greater where they would drive three and a half hours to see each other as Becca started a music therapy position in North Carolina. Soon enough, in the spring of 2021, three and a half hours turned into seconds as they decided to move in together in North Carolina. Things changed as Corey continued to pursue his journeymen electrical license. In 2022, after passing his exam, he moved up to Virginia to begin his licensed electrical career while Becca finished her job in North Carolina. In May of 2022, Becca followed Corey up to VA to Centreville, where they currently live with their cat Lionel.

The Proposal

Then comes March of 2023, when Corey asked Becca if she wanted to go hiking and take pictures as they "haven't had any pictures taken for a while." Becca became suspicious that Corey was planning to propose as she was the one who usually planned the hikes. From there, Becca devised a plan to be able to tell if he was going to propose. As the day drew near that the two were going to hike, Becca asked if Corey wanted to go to the store with her to get a tripod "to make taking pictures easier." Becca thought if Corey said no, then he wasn't going to propose, but if he said yes, he was going to propose.

Corey said yes.

Saturday, March 4th rolled around. The two woke up early to try and go on a sunrise hike. Unfortunately, the park, Great Falls National Park, opened later than expected. Despite the later opening, they entered the park and began their walk. They stopped by an overlook, where they set up the tripod and began taking pictures. Corey went to "check on the pictures" when in reality he was switching the camera to video, and he proposed.

Favorite Memories

Although moving, engagement, and a wedding can be considered some of life's greatest memories, it is the little ones that can be the best to reflect on. Whether it be Becca's sleeping talking about "the milk" or "puzzles" or it's Corey's analysis of electrical work in all establishments they enter, there is always something to smile about.
