I found him on Tiktok BUT he wasn't dancing or making one is the first part of the story I was asked to clarify before reading any further...


Becca's version -


In July of 2022, I found out Riveria Utilities had a Tiktok page. Everyone that knows me knows I said I was looking for an older man and more recently a man in “uniform (preferably one that involved green work pants and a khaki shirt), so I knew I had to stalk this page immediately.


Much to my excitement, I found one particular Tiktok that caught my eye. I found myself pausing and screenshotting pictures of one guy I wanted to find out about (praying he was single)!


I quickly shared my findings with my partner teacher (Carlie) whose husband (Shea) works at the same workplace. Very quickly the investigations started trying to find my mystery man. *Fingers crossed*


Fast forward to mid August a few weeks later, Carlie knocked on my classroom door and told me mystery man's name and some information that was going to work out in my favor (thanks to Shea Sims). Obviously we started stalking his social media right away.


Our numbers were exchanged, but in true fashion I waited for him to make the first move. He sure made me wait longer than I wanted to. I finally got a late night text with a simple introduction that was followed by an unexpected phone call the next day. I haven't stopped talking his ear off ever since.


The hour long phone conversations led to a first date at Don Carlos Mexican Restaurant. I barely remember what we talked about that night, but I'll always remember telling my mom and my best friends about how he made me feel - Safe, comfortable and excited for what could possibly come next. My mom told me that night that's how you know he's the one even if I didn't know it yet.


There were LOTS more hour long conversations to follow and so much time spent together very early on. If you know Matt then you know you can’t help but want to be around him. There were many days spent sleep deprived from staying up so late talking.


We knew early on that we didn't want to date anyone else, so we made it official September 4th that we were off the market.


Writing this today, we have already shared so many memories in a year and a half together. Meeting each other's family and friends, bringing his kids into the mix, traveling together, concerts, holidays, our engagement and so much more.


I am so excited about our lives together and this is still just the beginning!


Matt's version -


The day we met my life changed. Love is something you don’t find because it finds you. Thinking back to the day this all started I was at work. Someone I work with said, Hey this girl wants to meet you and I said sure. That night I texted her for the first time. She claimed she was waiting on a text all day, but she sure made me wait for a response back. I didn't get a text back until the next morning saying sorry I fell asleep. I thought I got ignored, but after I got to know Becca ... yeah she really was asleep!


Talking on the phone for many late nights and just the the easiness of talking with her ... I couldn’t wait for a first date. It was even better seeing and meeting her in person for the first time. She is sweet, kind and a good hearted person always thinking of others before herself. After meeting Hunter and Amelia for the first time and them loving her as much as I do, I knew she was the one. I can’t picture doing life without her (even as much as I hate to admit it - cleaning the house days with her too).

She is my best friend and I am looking forward to this life we are building together.
