Connor and Becky met at the University of Arizona when they were both undergraduates.
Connor and Becky remember their first meeting slightly differently.
Connor remembers coming to a housewarming party Becky threw at her first apartment.
Becky remembers meeting Connor at a house party at the house he was renting. (He walked in all suave and was like "You know we have chairs, right?" because I was sitting on the floor. It's what you'd call a "meet cute").
Regardless, we met. Immediately we liked each other's sense of humor. OK, yes, Becky is writing this so it was really that Connor was really, really, really funny.
They also bonded over hiking and Game of Thrones. The latter we won't be discussing here because it's too painful. BRAN is KING?! BRAN. UGH NO, let it go let it go.
Connor and Becky would get together just about every weekend and go for a hikes with their friends around Tucson, AZ.
This was also followed by Tucson staples of nutrition like Eegees, Beyond Bread, Chipotle (near campus), Ramiro's Taco Shop, and Highland Market for candy and snacks.
Becky ended up moving into the house Connor was renting for her last year of undergraduate and her first year of her Master's program. Connor was finishing his senior year.
Thus began a series of traditions including Friday Dance Party's (post school week dancing and playing board games), Over-the-top breakfast for dinner, and watching Neil Breen movies (definitely worth a quick Google).
STORY TIME
One night, while Becky and Connor were wrapping up watching a movie, Becky started to feel kinda itchy. Thinking huh, that's weird, hives... Becky decided to take some Benadryl . But it didn't take more than a 30 minutes for Becky to realize this allergic reaction was getting pretty awful. The hives were half-dollar sized and, if you know Becky, she wasn't going to just NOT itch them. So, overwhelmed with histamines, Becky decided to let her roommate know that maybe something weird was going on. Connor, not stubborn and with some lifeguard training, encouraged Becky to go to the hospital. Becky, being stubborn, insisted that the Benadryl would work and that she was going to take a shower. Well, that was a horrible idea. Connor knew it. You know it. Becky, not so much. SO Becky proceeded to go into anaphylactic shock in the shower. And it was then that Connor saved Becky's life. Getting her out of her aquatic environment, getting her medical attention, and identifying what Becky is now DEATHLY allergic to, an over the counter medication. It scared Connor half to death but Becky remembers that Connor was there for her and her saved her. Becky also remember lectures from family and friends on allergy safety.
Unfortunately, the fun had to come to an end as Connor graduated and moved back home in 2015. However, prior to moving, Connor and Becky agreed that it would fun to visit each other in whatever city they ended up, explore it, eat good food, and probably go for a hike.
And over the next 4 years that's exactly what they did.
Connor moved home to Minneapolis where Becky would fly twice a year to visit. Becky finished up at the U of A and then moved to Texas where she got her social work degree and started working. Connor would visit Becky and they went on hikes, explored Austin, and ate Tex-Mex to their hearts content.
After 4 years, Connor decided to move to Austin.
Some say it was for the amazing grocery store HEB, others say it was for a better job with a start-up, still some say it might have been for Becky. It's Connor. Connor says that and it's incredibly romantic.
In 2019 Connor and Becky decided that they were ready to date. So in the fall of 2019 Connor and Becky moved in together and just like in Tucson it was pretty great.
Then, in 2020, Covid hit and after much family discussion it was decided that with the privilege afforded to us, we wanted to move to Montana to dad's farm and be together. Dad, Barb, Chris, Ashton, Connor, and Becky.
Becky and Connor rode out Covid and gave living in rural Montana a go. Turns out, they love the country but they miss the city too much. So it was in 2021 that Becky and Connor moved to Minneapolis, in Uptown to be exact, with Rory (their cat). And they are still in that same apartment today.
They have absolutely loved living in Minneapolis and have fallen in love with the city and the life they have made there. Which is why, in the DEAD OF NOVEMBER, IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH, we want you to come cozy up with us in the warehouse district and party like it's 1999.
