Discover Reynolda House, the centerpiece of the Reynolda Historic District in Winston-Salem. Explore the restored 1917 mansion of Katharine and R.J. Reynolds. An orientation video, oral history kiosk and audio tours, included in your admission fee, provide a unique window into the family and the life they lived. Enjoy masterpieces of American art and special exhibitions in both the historic house and the museum's new exhibition wing. Shop and dine in Historic Reynolda Village. Then, stroll the formal gardens, greenhouses and woodland walking trails of Reynolda Gardens. The Wake Forest University campus, adjacent to Reynolda, is accessible by walking trail or by car.
Thruway Center opened on October 13, 1955, on a former dairy farm site. Winston-Salem's first shopping center continues to change with the times with an enormous assortment of impressive merchants for shopping, dining, and services. Some of our favorites are Dewey's Bakery (a W-S original! http://www.deweys.com/), The Juice Shop, and The Carving Board.

Founded in 1834, this private university serves approximately 7,000 students on the Reynolda campus, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in many disciplines. The University has professional schools in divinity, law, management, and medicine.
Vernon Rudolph founded Krispy Kreme in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on July 13, 1937, and the first Krispy Kreme store was located on South Main Street in what is now called historic Old Salem. While in Winston-Salem, be sure to enjoy a "Hot Now" plain glazed doughnut at the Stratford Road location, right across from Thruway shopping center.
