Introduced
So going back to August of 2012 in Rensselaer, Indiana, you will find one 17 year old from Temecula, California and one 18 year old from Berwyn, Illinois just beginning at Saint Joseph's College. But when they met, school was not in session just yet. The freshman arrived a few days early to get all settled in and get acquainted with their peers. They both were required to go to what was called "Puma Olympics", which involved being on a team with random people from the new freshmen class of the college. These activities helped the new students team build and have fun. And wouldn't you know, they were scheduled on the same team. They both knew each other's names, but did not talk much until the first week of going to class. As freshmen, they were also required to take a class called "freshmen seminar" and guess who ended up in that as well? Yes, they did. But things always did not go so smoothly and romantic...
Freshmen year, they were on different pages when it came to relationships; she was not looking for one and he did want one. Becky thought this would be too good to be true. He was so so so sweet to her but she just couldn't see it for what it was. After she said that they needed to get to know each other better before being in a relationship, their friendship died down a little bit. She got closer to her friend group and he focused on baseball and his friend group. What was supposed to be "getting to know each other better" sort of went the opposite way.
Started dating
Sophomore year was a little different as they began talking more and more, but just as friends. They would see each other out at parties and school events but it never progressed into much more. Becky, beside her best friends, was regretting the decision she had made about not giving Bruce a chance. This whole while, Becky was thinking "I wonder what it would be like if I had accepted and reciprocated the love he had given me”. On December 13, 2013, things took a 180. Becky texts Bruce and says that she is wanting a second chance and hoped she was not too late. Bruce replies by saying that he was surprised, happy and was hoping this day would happen for a long time. They talked and laughed for hours on the phone that night.
When they returned to school from winter break, they hung out almost every day binge watching Law and Order: SVU episodes on Netflix and jammin' out in the car to country songs. In early February of 2014, they decided to make things official. First dates consisted of concerts and baseball games. Big trips consisted of going to Florida twice for Puma baseball "spring training", California multiple times for summer vacations, and Chicago numerous times for weekend getaways. It all couldn't have worked out in a better way.
Engaged!
Fast forward nearly three years after they graduated from Saint Joseph's College, Becky and Bruce live in Terre Haute, Indiana with their two fur babies Macy and Ollie. On Friday, January 12, 2018, an ice and snow storm hits Indiana. Becky gets a call from work saying that they are closed for the day. Since Bruce works Sundays-Thursdays, they were ready to enjoy a whole two days together! Lots of cozy Netflix watching occurred that morning while the snow fell. Afternoon hit and they were wanting some fresh air. To enjoy the snow day, they decided go to the local park to take a walk. Along the way Bruce began to talk about how much they have gone through and how thankful he is to be where they are today. He gets down on one knee in the snow and says "Will you marry me?". As Becky's tears of joy froze to her face, she said YES! It was a beautiful day. It was perfect! :)
