Kilkea Castle

We highly recommend renting a car to explore the country since it's so small and so much to see. Kilkea Castle is only 1 hour drive from Dublin. However, skip driving in Dublin City—it's not worth the hassle. If you plan to rent a car from the airport, be sure your hotel in Dublin offers parking or can recommend a nearby garage. We stayed at a hotel that provided a discount code for a garage. Our parking ended up being just $16 per day instead of the standard $40.

Renting a car

If you prefer to take the train from Dublin to Kilkea :Take a train from Dublin Heuston Station to Athy Station. One way ticket to Athy will cost about $10 depending on the day. it takes 50 minutes Direct with Irish Rail. Athy station is about 12 minutes from Kilkea Castle and we can arrange pick up or take a taxi about $20.

From USA:Please note Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, so renew those passports to enter Ireland! Many airlines have direct flights from US to Dublin.Aer Lingus is Ireland's national carrier and you can often find less expensive tickets on this airline. Departing Ireland:If you're returning to the US, make sure to arrive at the airport extra early. Ireland has a special agreement with the US, allowing you to go through US Immigration at Dublin Airport instead of upon arrival in the States. This process will take about an extra hour in Dublin Airport depending on how busy they are, but once you land in the US, you'll be able to pick up your luggage and go!

Cliffs of Moher

Star Wars film location- must book ahead of time. It is also known for its large colonies of puffins, gannets, guillemots, and other seabirds. Its a long way to get there and it can get cancelled at any minute depending on the wind waves.(1-1.5 hours in open sea, hike up and down 2-3 hours and return to main land another 1-1.5 hours ) ( Do some research many tours company)

Skelling Islands

One of the most scenic drives and hikes in Ireland. The roads are narrow but navigable, shared with horses and carriages. You'll encounter stunning landscapes, including sheep, lush green fields, dramatic black stones, misty views, and charming stone bridges. It’s a truly beautiful place to visit.

Gap of Dunloe

Waterfalls, Hikes, Lakes, cottages by the water and mountains. The town is beautiful as well, with many shops, restaurants, stores , live music, and great place for souvenir shopping !

And if you're a Game of Thrones fan, you can explore the Game of Thrones studios and many filming locations.Outdoor: it has very unique sites; The Dark Hedges, Giant's Causeway, etc Northern Ireland is part of UK , not part of Republic of Ireland.
