If you want the story we tell people, we met because of social media. We had mutual friends, and I followed him and then he messaged me. Of course, it was after COVID-19 sent me (Mackenzie) home to Muncie. We started texting and then decided even with everything being closed down I would visit Terre Haute to stay with some friends & we could hang out. The rest from there is history, we continued seeing each other until it was time for Ben to move to South Carolina and we did long distance for a year. After a year of long distance, we both took a huge leap and decided I would move to South Carolina until he graduated from University of South Carolina with his masters. Once graduation came, we decided to move closer to home and we have ended up in Louisville, KY.

If you want the real story, we met weeks before we had messaged each other on social media., Ben was working as a bouncer at a bar in our college town of Terre Haute. My friends and I decided one night to go out since we had heard about the school possibly closing. Of course, it just so happened the bar we decided to go to is where Ben is a bouncer at. One of my friends decided to push the limits while at the bar and Ben said something to her about it. I’m sure if you know me, you also know I am the momma bear of my friends’ group when we go out. When Ben decided to say something, I said something back to him. Now, at the time, we did not know each other. Fast forward to after us hanging out a few times, we start comparing our stories about being at The Verve and we connect the dots and realize that we met that night. We laughed about it and continued on with what has become the beautiful life we have today.
