Q + A

Where is the Wedding?

Monteverde at Oldstone is our beautiful venue. Nestled next to Bear Mountain and the Hudson River, the address is: 28 Bear Mountain Bridge Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567. We will arrange bus transportation to and from the City and hotel (Windrose on Hudson), based on demand.

Is there suggested accommodation near the site?

Yes! Ben and Tadhg have arranged a room block at Windrose on Hudson. More information, including a link to reserve a room in the room block, can be found on the Accommodations page.

Schedule of Events

The wedding begins with a Cocktail hour & Chossons' Tisch at 4pm, followed by the Chuppah & Ceremony around 5pm. The Ceremony will be followed by dinner and dancing (see below), and we expect to be finished no later than 10pm.

What Should I wear?

Summer cocktail attire is suggested. We encourage everyone to wear an outfit that makes them feel good and feel beautiful. Orthodox Jews observe standards of modesty in dress called "Tzniut". If you are feeling anxious about sticking out, an easy rule of thumb is to cover shoulders and down close to the knee. Married women who do not usually cover their hair should not feel any pressure to wear a head covering—though Ben and Tadhg both love hats and encourage everyone to wear elegant hats if they want to! Most importantly, no one should feel we are telling them what to wear. Please wear whatever makes you feel good and beautiful! We will ask men to cover their heads during the ceremony and during the Grace After Meals at the end of dinner. There will be Kippot (Yarmulkes) available if you forget yours!

How will the Ceremony work?

Ben and Tadhg are observant Orthodox Jews. Because same-sex weddings are a relatively new phenomenon in this community, a standard same-sex wedding format has yet to coalesce. Ben and Tadhg have made every effort to design a ceremony that is both Halachically authentic and deeply meaningful to them. Our amazing Mesader Eirusin, Rabbi Eli Weinbach, will offer framing throughout the ceremony to help everyone understand the process, and there will be a fuller explanation of the steps in the programme handed out during the ceremony.

Dancing at the Reception

During the reception, much of the dancing will be lively Jewish music and Hora-style dancing. The dance floor will be divided by a Mechitza (partition), with men+ dancing on one side and women+ dancing on the other. We invite NB people to choose the side of the Mechitza that feels most comfortable to them! Tadhg and Ben will swap back and forth to dance with everyone!

Food & Drink

All the food and beverages served at our wedding will be strictly Kosher under the supervision of the Star-K. We will serve a variety of delicious food, including fleishigs, fish, and vegan dishes! There will be a full open bar. The venue's policy is not to serve spirits neat—you will need to order them with a mixer. Ice is an acceptable mixer (thanks to Ben's negotiating)!
