Ben & Amy

How we met:

Amy's side: For about a year (give or take as I am horrible with time), my bestfriend Jennifer and her parents (Big Daddy and Nay Nay or mom) joked with me about meeting "this guy". How he would be just perfect for me....blah, blah, blah. I said no, so I finally agreed and Jennifer set out to make it happen. I had one condition, if I was going to do this, then it was on my terms. So our first meeting was to the Columbia, SC Winter Jam Concert with the Youth Group I worked with at the time. Little did I know by the end of weekend the joke was on me, he was pretty good for me. Second night he was in Columbia we had family card night and even though Ben is not a card player, I laughed so hard my stomach and cheeks hurt, I did believe though that after the concert he would never talk to me or would want anything to do with me, it was a crazy night---especially with teenagers. That was in March and on September 5, 2011 it became official, we were a couple. (P.S. - Ben will tell you I stalked him for 6 months, but really he was just being a typical male- LOL)

Ben's side: I had no clue that going to Columbia for that weekend in March meant that I was going to deal with this crazy lady for the rest of my life. Just kidding! Yes, Jennifer convinced me to come to Columbia for the weekend. We went to Winter Jam and as we finally found a seat I heard Christian music being blasted through speakers. I thought I was going to lose my dinner when fire shot through the stage. I wanted to leave but my car was at Uncle Wyman's.Amy and I met but 6 months later I headed back to Columbia. During that time, Amy and I text each other but that was pretty much it. As Amy stated, that weekend was filled with laughter and good times and I never thought that I would leave with not only my best friend but the love of my life. Yes, I told her that we should take it one day at a time but that ended in a proposal in November 2016.

PS- I found her at 7-11 under a "HOT TO GO" sign!

Our Engagement:

Amy's side: Well, he made me wait......I knew it was coming and was pretty sure which weekend.....but he made me wait. Literally until he was close to leaving Columbia, after almost four days together in the same city he made me wait. The awesome thing though is he did it by walking up behind me on my porch and putting the ring in its box over my shoulder, and in a matter of fact way, said "well would you like to marry me?" This is so us....we wait for everything, starting our relationship, getting engaged, we just move slow.....Our saying to everyone has always been, "we are on a ten year plan". This casual proposal is simple, and totally our style, nothing over the top. It was perfect! It is our perfect.

Ben's side: The waiting was all the fault of the South Carolina Men's Basketball Team. We spent four days together and I planned to propose on a Tuesday night but their game went into overtime. Sitting in Colonial Life Arena, which is weird because that is where we first went somewhere together, I was cheering for the Gamecocks to win and the game to hurry up. Later on that night, I asked Amy Bryant to marry me. I'll admit that I was nervous but that was due to her saying, "About time!" instead of "Yes!" She accepted and we are ready for our journey together.

By the way, South Carolina won on a game winning shot in Overtime.

The Wedding:

Amy's side: Well....we aren't on a ten year plan....With Ben starting Seminary in July and being assigned to a new church in July, we thought best to get married before all that.....we added crazy on top of crazy.

Ben's side: IF YOU WANT AN INVITATION, YOU MUST SEND A DONATION! OUR FAVORITE COLOR IS GREEN AND IT'S ONE SIZE FITS ALL!!!! - I'M NOT KIDDING

SIGNED IN BLOOD BY BEN ROGERS
