Ben and Emily only met because of their friend Jenna. Ben knew Jenna from NYU after studying abroad in Prague and Emily lived with Jenna during her time at Columbia grad school. One day Jenna invited the both of them (along with other friends) to hang out at the Czech Beer Garden in Astoria (Prague connection!) on a sunny April day. Ben noticed the cute girl (Emily) sitting at the table near Jenna and decided to sit next to her. They talked, shared french fries, and after she left Ben told Jenna he had a little crush on her roommate! Ben said not to tell, but Jenna told Emily immediately when she got home. Then she played matchmaker inviting both of them to a variety of parties, hangouts, and get-togethers. There was talk of a picnic as a group but it never materialized so Ben eventually decided to take things into his own hands and invited Emily out to a date in Prospect Park on July 17, 2015. They got lunch, played frisbee, walked through the jungle paths, and were visited by a three-legged dog! Later that night, Emily was going out with some friends and invited Ben to meet them in the East Village (we didn't leave until midnight! We were a lot younger then...) Ben brought his friend Dan and after hopping around a few bars, and having a few drinks, they shared their first kiss at the Fat Buddha. They continued to see each other after that, exchanged Drake and Taylor Swift playlists, and Ben was somehow convinced to help her move out of her apartment a month later. They called each other boyfriend and girlfriend by November, said I love you by January, moved in together 4 years later (shout out 550 Vandy), and were engaged 2 years after that (shout out Notting Hill). The moral of the story is get yourself a good mutual friend like Jenna Koroly to push you together and the rest is easy.
