It was a warm August day and celebrations were under way for a picturesque wedding. Two people met on the dance floor . . . and little did they know that eleven months later they would be engaged.
Living five hours apart, things began slow. A phone call a week led to a date once a month. Then with a poem Ben asked Catherine to be his girlfriend. After a few more months, Catherine decided to move to Nebraska, which shortened the distance to a 20-minute drive!
It was a warm July day and Ben gave Catherine instructions: be ready at 10am with a bike, a Bible, and nice, but not too nice, clothes (because of the biking). A fun-filled day concluded on a dock at American Heroes Park in Bellevue, NE, where Ben read another poem:
Catherine, I love you
I want to be the one who
Is with you for all time
Even if life isn't sublime
Whether fighting mighty foes
or changing babies clothes
I will always hold your hand
I will always with you stand
I am not a perfect man
But this is God's perfect plan
With no one else would I rather be
Catherine Gimino, Will you marry me?
. . . And Catherine said yes.
