Me and Shayla met for the first time during a all day meeting with a mutual client. Shayla showed up to my office for a meeting with her boss and this other jerk who was trying to say that our technology didn't work. I talked for 8 hours answering their questions and I don't think Shayla said a word the whole time. Just ate bagels and sat there looking cute. She started coming down to Tucson for work about every week because I was helping her get her lab certified to test cannabis. We started going out to dinner during her visits and spending the weekends together hiking and exploring Arizona. One thing led to another and we found ourselves dating... The pandemic happened and we spent every weekend together exploring Arizona, hiking, camping, eating and drinking a lot of local wines. Shayla eventually moved down to Tucson to live with me and the rest is history! (Shayla might have a slightly different version of events)

Ben's Version

Right before I met Ben I made a career change. I quit my teaching job and joined a testing laboratory because I wanted to do something different. Being new to the field I had met only a handful of "head scientists" and they all looked the same...Older gentlemen who all kind of resemble Santa lol. Huge white beards and all. When my boss told me I had to attend a meeting down in Tucson with the head scientist of one of our partner labs that is exactly who I was picturing, a man who looked like Santa. The day of the meeting came and I got into the conference room nervous as can be when a very handsome and kind of awkward guy walked in and introduced&nbsp;himself as Ben. This made me even more nervous, but we got through the meeting...all 8 hours! Ben likes to say I didn't say anything lol but I like to say I was mesmerized by how he handled this meeting and I didn't know what to say lol. I started going down to Tucson more and more for training with Ben and a relationship blossomed on the lab bench. In hindsight it is pretty abnormal for the head scientist to be the one doing the training instead of the trainers ;)

Driving Directions from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to Flagstaff

To get to Flagstaff, from the Phoenix airport, follow signs for Downtown/I-10 and merge onto I-10 West toward Los Angeles, then take exit 143A for I-17 North toward Flagstaff. (All Phoenix-to-Flagstaff routes pick up at I-17 North eventually.) In 149 miles, I-17 will end and turn into Milton Road/US Route 66/Santa Fe Ave., leading you into Downtown Flagstaff.151 miles, 2 hours 15 minutes

The urban trail system is a fifty six mile series of trails that can be walked, ran or biked. It is lined with various shops and natural wonders.

Page Springs Cellars

Sedona is just an hour drive from Flagstaff. There are a few ways to get there from the I-17 or through Cottonwood Canyon. There is beautiful hiking, restaurants and unbelievable rock formations and views. This is a great place to stop on the way to or from Flagstaff.
