Below are some places to visit while you holiday in Connemara
Inisnee is an island connected to the mainland by a bridge
Drive to Roundstone and about 2miles from the village you will see a sign for the island. It is a nice drive to the pier , then follow the sign for the looped walk if you are feeling energetic park your car at the bridge and follow signs for walk from there

:Ballinahinch castle is a hotel past Roundstone on the R341 . It is well signposted views and walks are lovely They have a walled garden free entry and coffee shop in the grounds of the garden
:Dogs bay and Gurteen beaches Are two amazing beaches between Ballyconneely and Roundstone.
Roundstone is a beautiful fishing village 5 miles from Bernadettes home
Ballyconneely - located between Clifden and Roundstone
- you have the Connemara fish smokehouse-
take a left at Ballyconneely and drive to end of the road where you will find Bunowen pier and the smokehouse .
On your way to pier look out for a castle on the left hand side of the road (Grainnie mhaol) castle
On your return journey take the second left after your leave pier , There you will find a
lovely beach, a golf course and lots of green area to roam on , with the wild Atlantic-sea air , as you look out to sea you will notice Slyne Head Lighthouse
The golf course is nearby and they allow visitors for food
Continue to drive past golf course and you will find pony trekking centre
Mannin beach is also a beautiful beach very sheltered . Take the first left after Ballyconneely village, signpost at cross roads for the Connemara sands hotel drive along the narrow road until you see a sign saying mannin more the sign is written on a stone
Take that left, drive until you have passed the wooded area (trees)
Park and you will find a walkway to Sand dunes and the beach
The Marconi site and Alcock and brown memorial is between Ballyconneely and Clifden, it is a looped walk about 5km very interesting walk with 6 stations giving history of Marconi in many languages
There is a pink wagon parked there , if you fancy a coffee or snack
The sky road Clifden and clifden castle are also worth driving
Kylemore abbey and the national park in Letterfrack
The beach by Bernadette’s home - Calla Beach
As you exit from her house to the main road go left ,then take the next left turn it is about 5 minutes walk from my accommodation when the tide is out , one can walk across to the tidal island

The steam coffee shop in the grounds of the station house hotel is worth a visit if only for their homemade desserts (and where Bernadette spent many years waitressing!)

Omey island is a tidal island in an area called Claddaghduff which is also near Cleggan.
Inisboffin is an island off Cleggan, the ferry goes from Cleggan daily .
Connemara national park which has Diamond hill
Kylemore abbey is a ten minute drive from the national park so would be able to take both in on the same day . As you exit Kylemore abbey go left and drive until you pass by a garage and car sales , take the road to the right following the garage (Inagh Valley) drive to T Junction and then take a right which will bring you onto the N59 and in to Clifden or take the R341 signposted Roundstone and it will bring you into Roundstone

It is a nice place to sit and look out to sea , sometimes there are sailing boats out on the water
There is a tour of Roundstone bay and drop off to an island “Inislacken”. Uninhabited island at present
