Bertina and Jaered met all the way back in kindergarten at Spann Elementary School. They were best friends along with their dear friend, Karen - until 1st grade when Jae moved schools unexpectedly. Fast Forward to 6th grade at Risley Middle School before it was known as Risley International, they rekindled in one of their classes when they were sat next to each other.


They both share a deep love for music, and remained classmates in band, and other courses until they graduated in 2019 at Pueblo East High. During this period they shared small interactions - never forgetting the bond they had as children.


Jae and Bertina remained friends after High School - and had even discussed the crazy possibility of them becoming more than friends. They saw this as just playful banter, as neither of them were looking for a relationship at the time.


Four years after this interaction, the two of them attended a mutual friends' event to which they reconnected immediately, and the spark was there. It was actually the same weekend that Bertina had gotten her first tattoo! Throughout the party, Jae visited with Bertina and her best friend, Angela. They both knew there was a different energy between the two of them - and Angela was witnessing them playfully flirt first hand.


Shortly after the party, Jae asked Bertina to the movies to see Elementals. They have been inseparable ever since! Just a year and a half later - they share their first apartment together with their wonderful cat, Sally Joy. Marriage wasn't a second thought to them, as they had found both love and friendship in the same person.


Jae and Bertina had an intimate proposal in the apartment that Bertina shared with her best friend - and he presented her with the most beautiful ring - sharing a promise to love her for the rest of his life, and so on.
